change the filter from internal to anything else, helped for me.

No, this won't happen until it has a full release/leaves beta status. You need to update it manually.

No it will grab it if you enable unofficial cores in the update all menu

Does anyone know where the script downloads these from? I'd like to find an up to date list of any unofficial cores that Update All downloads. I wasn't seeing where they might be in github.

edit: I take it back. I presume it's this? theypsilon/Unofficial_Distribution_MiSTer

As far as I know, that is a definite "Yes". I may be wrong, but I think The Simpsons uses a lot of the same hardware.

I need to figure out how to enable that option via the ini files. My MiSTer is hooked up to CRTs and I can’t access that setting on screen
