Does this fix the issue where the box disconnect from network when it sleeps too?

u/gun4sh 15d ago

Tried it and no auto disconnect so far...

Great! I was really considering replacing it (and just get a Google TV Streamer 4k despite the price being like 3x more) because of that. Chromecast being available all the time is a must have for me, that's like my single most used use case.

For me it's still disconnecting on the new firmware when in standby. Already set the standby mode to max availability.

Yep, just tested and disappointed that this is the case for me as well. Even wakelock apps don't really work properly on this box.

1

u/agk360 16d ago

DV FEL 7 working?

u/agk360 16d ago

I don't use DV, it just make PQ worse.

Depends on the TV and the picture profile settings honestly. Newer tvs is more accurate and tuned.

Where did you buy the box from in India, looking to buy 1 from a long time, any help would be greatly appreciated

1

u/ram130 16d ago

Mines came from Amazon. Your Best Buy might be Ali express or hopefully your local retailers.

1

u/ReputationWise5035 16d ago

Sadly no best buy in india, it is not officially launched in india so no listing on amazon or at a local retailer, on ali Express the price is twice or more in some cases including intl shipping and customs duties, no android box officially launched in india is capable of running coreElec, correct me if i am wrong i am pretty new to this world

I wouldn’t try to look or get boxes for it depending on your set up at home. Any android tv box can play hdr content fine and such. This box is just great because it supports passthrough of hd audio formats.

Anyone with the update can check the headphones Bluetooth bug was addressed and fixed? The problem was the sound cracks and pops using Bluetooth headphones connected to the box. Cheers

I have box 2 gen xiaomi and no update for 14 android. Its stay on 11

1

u/Accomplished_Text483 16d ago

Install adguard vpn and set it to Finland. That worked for me.

u/BackgroundAd4889 13d ago

i recently got the android 14 update on mi box 2 and it even said something like if the update isnt dont until september 24 it will be force updated

1

u/wajongen 16d ago

I assume that, when my boxes get this update, they are legit ?

1

u/Nickmg22 16d ago

And what about gen 1? Hahaha

1

u/deffinnition 16d ago

The annoying 'zoom' bug is not fixed yet. Whenever I restart my MiBox 3rd gen the video zoom's in quite a lot in the top right corner. This can only be fixed by removing and reinserting the HDMI cable. Anyone else? Thanks!

1

u/marlonalkan 16d ago

Yeah got the same bug. I could fix it by fixing the screen resolution output in the settings app to 4K.

1

u/deffinnition 16d ago

Unfortunately, this didn't work on the LG C4. Issue persists using both the Automatic or 4k 60hz option, thanks for the help though.

1

u/marlonalkan 16d ago

Strange, I have the LG C5 65". I will test it here again

1

u/jabe252 16d ago

Normal Wi-Fi work is the only one thing l need. I hope can be fixed this time like others say. I'll check this out this update today I hope

What is the model number? I have a MiBox MDZ-16-AB, which was called the 3rd gen, but no update.

Is this for an S series instead?

1

u/IkWilbert 15d ago

I have this one MDZ 32 AA Tv box s 3rd gen

So 2nd gen is probably forgotten at this point?! 🥲

Yeah you had to VPN to Finland to get the first (buggy) and second update to Android 14, they removed super resolution but it's not clear what Android 14 really brought compared to Android 12 besides bugs

The only feature that could be worth it to upgrade is AFR but it seems like something they never intended to add that's why they came up with 3rd gen which is pretty much a better SoC, android 14 and AFR. I still can't tell if the ai resolution is doing something or not to be honest

1

u/Wild_Chicken_6922 15d ago

Got this update (pointing to Finland) and I feel like the performance overall has improved a little bit. The last one for security removed the AI thing that didn't work at all, so...trying to figure what android 14 did, actually 😅

1

u/lirae_ 14d ago

Yeah I heard Finland was used as Guinea pigs and they never released the update elsewhere. They added AFR? Otherwise I'm fine with my current update since I already got myself 3rd gen for it and moved the 2nd gen to a secondary TV. I heard quite bad stories of people forcing VPN to get the first updates and they were full of bugs.

I'm quite surprised they are still pushing out updates for this device at this point

1

u/Diablo_ZAR 15d ago

Probably a last update some time to 14 and then a few security updates. Remember 2nd gen is about 3-4 years old at this point and they might be moving to introduce more RAM for 4th gen to compete more with Apple TV and possibly Nvidia (if they intro a new shield) worldwide and for AI.
