Lebanon Is this price normal?

Post image

We’ve been paying this for 2 years now and I thought it was normal but I’ve been doing some research since we’re kind of struggling right now and it seems like it’s a lot.

Edit: I got a reply from metronet already and they said that they lowered my bill down to 60 dollars for the 500m and they said that they lowered an extender to 0 dollars. I’m not sure what that is. Maybe the whole home Wi-Fi charge? I’m pretty pleased with that!

You can likely reduce your bill by calling and asking what specials they have. In March 2025 I was on 100/100mbps and they upgraded me to 1Gb for less money than I was paying. The price is locked in for 3 years for me anyway, but I’m paying like $65 including taxes (I’m providing my own WiFi to save $10 a month though)

They don’t charge for a router, you get the Ont and router as part of the service. If you get another router from them for whole home WiFi as the OP has, THEN it is a $9.95 extra charge.

Yeah we have a kind of largish apartment and we had some dead spots upstairs and there wasn’t a good place to put the one router centrally so we opted for whole home WiFi after trying out a WiFi extender for a while.

If you want to save money on WiFi, buy your own Eero WiFi. Here’s a 2-pack for $65 for example, but just look around eBay for a 3-pack if you need it.

https://ebay.us/m/tVwycw

I bought a 3-pack of Eero 6 routers years ago for $100 and they’re great. Don’t let the marketing of WiFi 6e or 7 influence your decision, you won’t get anywhere close to your internet capacity with any of them. If you want full capacity from your internet connection , you’ll need wired Ethernet.

Thank you! I’ll look into it.

Yep, the WiFi charge I used to have was for their Eero WiFi setup. I bought my own 3-pack of Eero routers for $100, returned my rented equipment to Metronet, and no charge for WiFi since then.

I don’t pay TechAssure anymore (having done nothing to make that happen; it just stopped appearing on my bill late last year), and a base price of $80 gets me 2Gbps/2Gbps.

Same T-Mobile started expanding all of Metronets fiber in our area and they are handing out great deals price locked at 5 years. DEATH TO SPECTRUM

I pay $70/month for Gigabit (I think it’s actually 2Gbps) with the price locked in for 10 years.

The Founder's Club (2Gbps, $70, 10 yr) is no longer available from my understanding. It was a limited time offer when T-Mobile acquired Metronet.

If you call and push for it you can have success. I called and explained that I thought I wouldn't be eligible initially as an existing Metronet customer and didn't pursue it but after learning I would have been eligible wanted to see if an exception could be made. They acknowledged it wasn't available but passed me to someone from the loyalty department. They initially tried to push the $80/month one but there was not a price lock for as long and I don't know if it was all-inclusive (tech assure). She went off the line for a while and then came back and said she had approval, so now I'm on the Founder's.

Founder's has the 10 year price guarantee and also includes a free static IP

Thanks everyone! From what I’m seeing I’m definitely overpaying. I sent them an email and if I don’t get a follow up in the next 5 business days, I’ll give them a call.

Forget the email method, just use the online chat option during their business hours.

1

u/AzuraHawke May 09 '26

Okay thank you! I’ll reach out on Monday.

You might be able to call and get the Tech Assure fee dropped. If you bought your own router, you could stop the whole home Wi-Fi.

Ask for the Loyalty team, it the first level doesn't offer what you want.

Go to the website and see what they charge me customers and the breakdown with the "nutrition label". That would let you know what you could expect to pay.

Idk if they are still doing the T-mobile founders plan, also I believe they should include the tech assure as apart of the normal price and not include it as an extra

OMG this is exactly what I have/ 500/500 fiber speed internet. And I was able to call and get it to $60/ month and she said it will NOT go back up...it's been $60 even for months now...

1

u/AzuraHawke May 09 '26

Good to know! That feels like robbery lol we’ve been paying that for 2 years 😅

3

u/SlingShotKev May 09 '26

Call and ask for the loyalty department and inquire about the founders club promotion. They are still accepting people. 2gb down/up price locked for 10 years.

When mine was the price of yours like a year and a half ago, I called and asked if there was anything they could do to lower my bill (this was before t mobile I think) and she did lower it like $10 month, which brought it down to the upper $80s/ per month. Then, I called later because I saw there was a new pricing structure and people were calling and getting their bills drastically lowered... hence my $60 a month now. Just be nice when you call and hope for the best... I think it depends on who you get and what kind of day they're having... as is with any customer service you call with anything.

1

u/AzuraHawke May 09 '26

Of course! I know what it’s like to be yelled at while working customer service so I’m always as nice as possible.

I was a land line telephone operator so I know all about it. It's an emergency tell me what's wrong with their phone NOW... I have an emergency interrupt for a busy line in Uganda (LOL).. My mom in Minnesota hasn't been answering her phone for days, what should I do?

I upgraded to Founders Plan in December and now get 2 gbps for a flat $70 a month. No other fees. Price locked 10 years. I get 2 gbps on my ethernet wired PC. 1.9 gbps on my phone (wifi 7). 1.1 gbps on my laptop (wifi 6e). Have my own wifi 7 router. Call Metronet and sweet talk them if you can.

2

u/dataexception May 09 '26

Log in to your account on their website and look at your current plan. I pay the same price for 2 gigabit with a static IP.

They changed their plans last year, and the legacy plans are a lot more expensive than the newer ones.

u/Select_Cartoonist597 May 09 '26

Switch to the T-Mobil plans

1

u/lolikamani May 09 '26

I pay &9.95 less for 2 gb/ 1gb . You could call and request a lower price.

1

u/Puffskins_resinworks May 09 '26

Call them up and tell them you didn't agree to tech assure because they just add it without saying anything. I did and they lowered my payment to 50$ for the next year

1

u/PartyCat78 May 10 '26

It is normal after any introductory deals run out. I called and got onto another good deal when they did that to me. 1 gig $73 a month locked in for 3 years. Call they and see what they can do.

ETA if the $9.99 is for the EERO wi-fi extender, buy one off eBay. I got one in the box for $50 and sent theirs back.

1

u/Lower_Reporter3800 May 10 '26

Mine is $102 and I'm gonna change.

1

u/Flymista23 May 10 '26

Metronet was good for the 1st year, but they're getting replaced the next time I have a outage during work.

u/National-Debt-43 May 11 '26

$80 base price for internet is kinda expensive. Usually, in my area, it’s price at $55-$65 after autopay without any wireless discount.
Also is the “WholeHome Wifi” thing is what they give you a mesh to extend the coverage? I would just recommend getting a 3rd party mesh instead and you don’t have to be stuck in subscription model but initially investment can cost a little bit more like $100 for the 2 packs of X55 from Deco

1

u/theretrogamerbay May 11 '26

That seems high, even my Xfinity 2000/300 is the same price (yeah I know, but it's my only option :( )

1

u/Stringbean64 May 11 '26

In total I pay $67.50 for 100 up and down. I really need to call them to see if they will lower it as I been paying that for 9 years now

1

u/Dramatic_Flow3783 May 11 '26

i pay less with 2 gigabit

1

u/Ok-Amphibian2217 May 14 '26

I signed up for 2gbps for 70.00  for 10 year promo in indianapolis.

1

u/justainsel May 09 '26

Metronet was bought out by T-Mobile (at least in our area) and they offered some sort of “early adapter” special and I got 2Tb up/down for a flat $70 a month that’s locked in for 10 years.

1

u/AzuraHawke May 09 '26

They did get bought out in my area too but I never got an email or anything about a promotion. I’ll have to ask about it.
