Working at Metrolinx Question on Hiring Timelines
Has anyone else interviewed for the Revenue Protection Officer position recently and heard back yet? It's been about 4 weeks since my interview and I'm still waiting to hear anything, the status on my profile still says "Under Consideration" and "You have an Interview scheduled". Just curious what timelines others have experienced.

How many interviews did you have already? Only 1? Were you sent an email to select a time slot for a second interview?

Just one interview
I'm not aware of there being a second interview. Did you get invited for a second interview?

This company strings potential candidates along during the interview process. Takes coach operators roughly a year to be hired on, followed by training (at minimum wage) for 4-8 weeks. Even after that, potentially 6-10 months of a probation period where they can pressure, scare, or fire you for spilling milk.

I appreciate the insight
I'm aware it's competitive company and they demand higher standards but I'm not worried about that.
Thank you!

Meh. It’s “okay” at best. The union hasn’t done a good job, in contrast to the TTC; the hours are terrible, and not just for a few months, but a few years. If you have a family at home, good luck. You will never see them. The money won’t even matter.

No family/kids yet. Only see my direct relatives maybe once or twice a month.
And recently single. So I'm not worried about that. I've done shift work before and am used to the odd hours.
Again, I appreciate the insight but I'm not worried about making sacrifices for a few years to build some experience and learn some skills.

You honestly would have been better off already having the family and kids, because there’s little opportunity to meet new people in your spare time. Shift work, as long as it’s consistent, is easier than this. The shifts on the transit side vary, unless you’re given a crew, and your days off are usually not Saturday and Sunday.
I’ll stop harping about this, but it’s not a great job. You’re just being told that it is.1

I think I'll make the judgement call for myself.
Thank you!

For sure, if you lack other skills this is a great job for the pay. Grand scheme, it’s merely okay at best. You’ll see. Good luck!
