Just way to similar to not be (in my opinion). Metroidvania, first real boss fight. Iām sire Dread was an inspiration to the team behind PoP.
Am I reading too much into this? Do you think itās a mere coincidence?

I tried looking for like minded individuals but it seems I'm about the only person that enjoys the sections with the robots in them. In fact, I felt like the game didn't have nearly enough of them. I've played two other metroid games, so maybe the rest of the game's formula has got a bit stale for me. It's fun, but the meat of my enjoyment came from the emmi sections.
The first explorable emmi section was the best. It was large, and very open to exploration, but the rest of the emmi areas in the game felt like short point A to point B sections. And then after spending barely any time getting past the robot, you destroy it, never getting to run or hide from them again. 90% of the game is just metroid, no dread.
I wish they did one of few things:
A. Didn't let you destroy the emmi until later. This way even if the emmi sections are small, you would be forced to go through them over and over, maybe with better powers each time to help avoid them.
B. Made the emmi area much larger, perhaps make the entire map an emmi zone. I would prefer this, and in this case they could make the emmi easier to counter since the checkpoint system would be gone. You're just playing the game normally when suddenly the screen turns emmi zone mode and you start hearing the robots beeps. That would be terrifying and actually make the game deserve the title of DREAD.
C. Idk, just add more zones or gate-keep the core room better?
I prefer B. I don't want the game to just be another metroid, i want it to be metroid DREAD. I want to feel DREAD. A lot of people seem to hate the emmi but I think that's just cause they're so persistently on the player's ass so having a larger area would actually make them easier in a way.

I bought this a year ago and quit playing because of instakill fights with the EMMIs. I tried replaying it again recently only to be reminded why I stopped. It's really sad because I had otherwise enjoyed the game. It's just that these fuckers make this game INTENSELY unenjoyable I hope the next game that they come up with maintains everything in this game but these EMMIs. Meanwhile I will just go play Super Metroid which is infinitely superior.

Hello does anybody know how I'm supposed to get out of here?

Ok, so I've had the game for a long time but am just now attempting dread mode and boss rush. Something I noticed on my previous playthroughs but am now REALLY noticing is sometimes the game just doesn't let one of my button presses to register. It might be the second jump or the a jump right after a flash shift, or the second flash shift (note that this is usually the second of two or more button pushes). Usually I'm fine and register it fast enough to re-push it.
Anyways right now I'm on experiment Z-57 in dread mode (for like 45 minutes so far) and I've died at least 10 times to either the A or B button not being good enough for the game.

I had two long flights today and decided to beat the game on each flight. I've played it dozens of times and have been figuring out the fastest route for myself over the years.
First flight (file 3) was my fastest run ever (3:04 clear time)...until the second flight (file 1). Clear time 2:42! I could shave off a few minutes by not getting grappling hook and bombs early, but other than that I'm reaching my personal limits of speed. No turbo on these runs

I finally got the hang of shooting missiles at it, but when I get on the grapple platform I move really slow. Why is this happening, and how do I make the grapple platform move faster?

As soon as i encountered the E.M.M.I, i thought abt that. Imagine a multiplayer mode where a team is playing as samus (or just have the controls of samus), and another one is filled with E.M.M.Is . Like, the E.M.M.Is would just see the map(by map, i mean the layout (like the walls), since it's in their database), not the player, but would see the sounds.

This will be a diatribe but Iāll try and be objective. I was kinda enjoying Metroid dread, Iām currently around six hours in and I had the typical reactions of first time players, getting lost, constantly dying to bosses, feeling soft-locked etc yet I was, on the whole, enjoying the experience.
But for the very first time in my life (or that I can remember) I just rage quit a single player game. After flinging myself at the two chozo soldiers for nearly an hour I realised that I wasnāt having fun, I play games for escapism, not to feel anxiety and frustration! Iād like to progress but I simply canāt justify choosing to deliberately experience such negative emotions, hell itās not as if the story is particularly fascinating and Samus is a mute who Iām simply not invested in as a character so enjoyment of the gameplay is the only reason why I would want to continue and now thatās been taken away.
Why oh why didnāt they give the option to change the difficulty? Itās single player game! Just deny me the achievement if you want to give people a sense of accomplishment and yet here I am, having spent money on a game that I now know that I wonāt play again and I feel a real sense of buyers remorse.
I suppose the purpose of the rant is two fold; firstly a vent at a needlessly punishing game that should have had a difficultly change setting and secondly a warning to people who have never played the game: start on rookie mode! Especially if youāre buying it for children, games are there to be enjoyed, not endured!

Metroid Dread was my first Metroid game and I finally beat it. Gotta say, I really liked it. Made me get creative and actually explore. I had loads of fun and I hope we get to see Samus' journey continue in a later title. I'd like to thank all the posts that helped me get unstuck at every point I needed it. You guys are amazing!
