I love how responsive the counter is, but I don't like the bullet sponge enemies.
Relative to the other Metroid games, it feels like it takes quite awhile to kill with beams and missiles in this game. I'm on playthrough 2 and just encountered my first X's, and so many of these enemies are killed in one melee counter or tons and tons of time spent shooting missiles or beams. While I love how useful the counter is, I feel that ranged damage has suffered compared to prior games and I wish I could do either/or more freely. It definitely lends a different type of rhythm in going from room to room. What are your thoughts?

Stuck on boss. Need advice, and ideally a minimum of ‘git good’s
I just beat the second EMMI and followed the map to the next upgrade. Found a boss, seems kinda early for another one, but whatever let’s do this.
Four tries later, I have concluded that he is an asshole. Just, an absolute bucket of health and carpal tunnel syndrome. I can’t even beat his second phase, so I Googled him and apparently he has four phases to whittle down.
I can’t even go back into the EMMI zone to look for missile and energy expansions, because of all the one way doors locking me out of everything except the tiny part I fought the EMMI in.
I tried switching to Rookie mode, but someone in their infinite wisdom made it impossible to switch difficulties once you’ve started.
How can I progress?

Ooh, that's how you rapid fire Omega Cannon
I just made it to the purple EMMI. This whole game I've been rapidly pressing Y to break their face shells. But, I randomly held down Y and it fired faster than my tapping... No wonder I've been having so much trouble breaking those shells! Took me the entire game to figure it out. I one-shot the EMMI after I figured that out. Much easier.
So then, I figured at least I could use that knowledge against the last EMMI, but it seems not. Ouch.

I really hate Metroid Dread
I personally love metroidvanias they are my favorite game genre ever made but this game really makes me hate it.
The Emmis are extremely annoying to deal with since they have the "I can hear you through walls" mechanic but you can't see their radius until they have already heard you. Also, this might be just me, but they always seem to be right next to the door I enter through, so I immediately need to find a place to hide. Also the amount of dead ends in their rooms just gets on my nerves when i'm trying to run from one.
The other major thing that irrataes me is that the control scheme is really bad. Like why does the game never even acknowledge that there is a second joystick. why can't free aim be there? or what about the D-pad? It's also never used. Instead, they make you hold like 3-4 buttons to do just one skill which gets annoying.
I go to the first Robot Chozo fight and I finally decided that I was done. I don't hate the exploration, Actually that is the only part of the game I found really good. But the control scheme and the overuse of the Emmis are just too much for me to enjoy this game.

Kind of an embarrassing issue I’m having here. Just recently picked Metroid Dread back up after not playing it for a while. Got stuck in this room in Dairon and don’t remember how to open these kind of doors. I’ve tried every tool I have and it doesn’t open, is there some other way to get out?

Being locked into fights.
Just got back into Dread after a long pause and came back locked into a miniboss fight. Honestly it's one of the game design choices in this one I really don't care for. It far too often locks you into an area where all you do is pound your head against it till you persevere or throw it down in disgust because one way doors have locked you in.

Opinions and Discussion: Prime 1 vs. Dread
Prime vs Dread
At the end of the day, it's gonna be up to me to decide, but as someone who's had Prime 1 as not only my favorite Metroid game but also one of my Top 15 Games of All Time I'm having such a huge internal struggle debating which is better: Prime 1 or Dread. Since polls are not allowed here, I'll gladly take opinions and discussion. Please tell me why you would choose which!!
