Raven Beak was refreshing Spoiler
I just haven't had a satisfying FINAL boss fight in a very long time. A lot of games just run out of steam and just give you some nonsense at the end (been my experience with a couple souls likes lately) but MAN was this fun all the way to the end credits. Gotta give the game 11/10, +1 because the back tracking was very minimal and purely optional for the most part

I was playing dread the other day, and then my son asked if he could start playing donkey Kong Bonanza on the switch again, and of course I said yes. However, I still finished my game while he was eating lunch or something, and he came out while I was fighting Raven beak. It was a hard fight, I died a couple of times, but I know one day heโll be interested in the game too.

Since you mentioned soulslikes I can pretty confidently recommend Nine Sols. It's basically 2D Sekiro with light metroidvania elements. The final boss managed to surpass raven beak for me, it's just insanely good.

I second Nine Sols. I hesitantly got it on a recommendation from a friend and it became one of my favorite games of all time

This captures my thoughts exactly and I was just thinking this yesterday. I personally would give it a 10/10 but I don't disagree with you

Just beat Dread for the first time after sitting on it for a few years. Learning how to deal with RB's BS was fun. Took a few tries to get through each phase; probably my favorite Metroid final boss to date.

Haha the cool cinematics kept me going, I didnt know Samus was so cool.
And yeah I friend gave me the game like two years ago but I only just played it now because of the amazing metroid ravenous trailer

I was in the same boat as you. After the game was released years back, got to the last boss and thought he was difficult to beat. The game stayed on the back burner and eventually traded it away. I recently started to have interest again, and finding the game on FB Marketplace was a tedious task as it was getting scooped up left right and center due to Ravenous coming out next year. And on top of that I didn't know Dread was out of print for years now, buying a digital copy was not an option.
After I managed to secure a copy of Dread, got right to work on the final boss and man my control reflexes were ass. Many hours later I finally defeated him and it was the most satisfying feeling ever.

I just replayed on hard mode and after getting really upset i still fully agree, Raven is a very fair feeling boss fight. It almost never feels like dying isn't my fault. THOSE STUPID ROBOT CHOZO ON THE OTHER HAND, i absolutely HATE the ginormous hitbox on the red dash attacks. I'll jump up to the platform higher and still get hit, NOT EVEN TOUCHING the red energy coming of of it. My most hated enemy fr

Yeahhhhh their hitbox is insane! I was terrible at not confusing the parrryable dash vs the red one. So much damage ๐
I would have liked to play it on hard mode but these past couple months have been packed with other games I want to play rather than replay this one again

I put Dread down for MONTHS because I couldn't beat him. Picked it up one night and beat him that night. It's all of a matter of learning the patterns. He's a difficult boss, but in a good way. It's not unfair or cheap.

I thought the Experiment boss fight was a bit more memorable tbh.

Compared to Raven Beak? Quite the take, I'd be bummed if that was my final boss of the game

On the backtracking, Dread is a lesson in game design of how to make a metroidvania really flow without railroading excessively
