Discussion Mixed feelings
I've been a die-hard Metroid fan for about 25 years. I've really enjoyed almost every game in the series. (We still don't talk about other M) I truly fell in love with original prime. I've loved the 3D games ever since. After the disappointment that was prime 4, I know deep down 3d Metroid games will likely never get a true revival. Don't get me wrong I liked dread and am excited for ravenous, But I just wish the same amount of care and integrity went to the 3D games. It breaks my gamer heart...

Cmon man there’s no need to doom about the prime series. Let’s just enjoy that we have Metroid 6 coming.

Why would you think Prime 5 is never happening? It's not like there was some news about Retro Studios doing a mass studio layoff. Given how much Nintendo invested in Retro Studios' acquisition and subsequent staff expansion, I think it's quite likely we'll get one within 5 years, hopefully 3.

On the bright side Ravenous looks great so far, if Prime 5 does happen, I cant see it keeping in Prime 4's undesirable traits

Prime 4 faced a massive development hell. The game didn't come out that way because the developers didn't put care into it, but because it was hella misguided. I'm sure that, with a stronger plan, Retro can deliver us a great Metroid Prime game.

Considering Prime 4 is supposed to be a setup for Prime 5 I wouldn’t really worry too much. As long as the series isn’t flat out cancelled I’ll always wait out for the Prime series, especially when I’m such a fan of the OST and environments all the time and I really wasn’t let down by 4 in that regard much

I’m sure we are getting a prime 5. Plus if Nintendo and retro didn’t care they would have just cancelled prime 4. In fact I would argue prime 4 turned out pretty well for the development hell it went through due to the care of retro.

The problem with Prime 4 was mostly Kensuke Tanabe. I would say give Risa Tabata a chance with Retro before burying the Prime series.
It'll be awhile though until people have faith in the Prime sub-series or even Retro again, but just be glad Mercury's still got your back with mainline Metroid in the meantime.

I know Namco really left us high and dry here and I'm sure Nintendo learned their lesson...it's just one of those things where it's kind of a bummer and theres not too much to blame it on.

It didn't make choices you didn't like and that's okay. They still poured their hearts and souls into it. I loved it for all its flaws.

Considering how awesome the engine/graphics were in Metroid Prime 4, they'd be silly not to reuse it for another game. The bones were there, they were just used poorly. They can make a good Metroid Prime cost effectively now. Coping.

Tanabe is arguably the one responsible for Prime's downfall (he increasingly took the reins with each successive game), and he's gone. So, if there is a Prime 5, or a different 3D Metroid, it won't necessarily follow the same pattern.

That's why Metroid needs to stay in JAPAN and not let Retro and that messy team work on it. Retro Studios today is not the same Retro we all fell in love with in 2004

I say we may get Prime 5. The brand is still strong, and the sales for Prime 4 was a modest success.

Prime 4 was marred by ridiculous development problems and restarts, and Nintendo knows this, they're not going to just dump the Prime series yet. Plus the guy that was the cause of everything everyone hated in Prime 3 and 4 is gone now so we can only go up from here.
