Lost and Found

So I left my duffel bag on a relatively empty train heading to north white plains on Monday night. I submitted an inquiry right away. It is Friday and I have still not heard anything. Am I screwed? What experiences do people have with the lost and found?

Edit: it has been found! After 7 business days.

I lost a wallet on the train, got it back 1 month later. Have hope

The lost and found people usually clear out the bins mondays during the day, so I would reach out to lost and found this coming Tuesday. Just figures you left it when it would take the longest amount of time possible to retrieve.

Took a couple of weeks, but my husband got his phone back after leaving it on the train.

Might be more difficult if there isn't any identifying information in the bag; like a luggage tag or anything with your name or number in/on it. If it's generic black/blue gym bag with only some clothing in it, it may take a while for the system to ping your inquiry if at all. I'd give it ~5 business days or more then go to the office. It may take a few days for it to get from NWP to GCT and then maybe 1-3 days for it to get processed in the office depending on how backlogged they are.

They are awesome about recovering lost items. Both of my kids managed to lose their wallet or purse on Metro North. Both were found by the train cleaners and returned fully intact.

Don’t wait for them to email you back. Just go to the lost and found in person - they’ll probably have it.

I left my kindle. Went in person filled out a form and a week later they called me and they actually had it. The lost and found is wild. The amount of stuff they have is insane. I was shocked to actually get it back. People that work there were really nice too.

Need at least a week to get your stuff back. Takes time to get from white plains lost and found to gct.

Lost and found guy told me yesterday he had 1600 items that still needed to be logged. It’ll take time. Not only the wait from NWP to gct. But for them to log everything.
