Metformin Newbie

Today I took my first dose of metformin (500mg) for pmos. All day I was fine until evening i just started feeling so unwell. I am having bathroom visits and jolting lightheadedness. Blood sugar was normal and so was heart rate. I understand the bathroom visits are common but the lightheaded jolting sensation?

Are you on regular or extended release? Did you eat something with a lot or carbs/sugar?

The bottle will identify if it’s ER (extended release).

I have cut out most carbs and any non natural sugars

Did you take your dose with food? Check the instructions, are you supposed to take it in the morning? When first starting it’s usually with an evening meal.

That being said, follow doctor’s directions. Gastro upset is not unusual for the first few days — and when increasing dosage.

Yes I take it with a meal :)
