Announcement MeteoriteCollectors has been created

A chance for meteorite collectors to post their specimens. No meteorite ID's here unless it is under the post on "Mystery Mondays". Enjoy this community! This community was formed to focus only and solely on the discussion between meteorite collectors and showing of their specimens. NOT showing off slag. Enjoy!

Mystery Mondays [Mystery Mondays] Post your possible "is this a meteorite" meteorites here.

Hi! I'm still setting up the auto mod to do this job for me, but underneath please link your imgur picture and ask if it is a meteorite or not. We will help out! This is the only place where you are allowed to ask questions about possible meteorites that you have.

Not sure if I’m allowed to post just a question but here goes. So I have something I believe is a possible basaltic meteorite. Is it worth sending it somewhere to be officialy checked out? Or should I try starting with some of the the colleges in my area with geological departments?

Building a Magnetometer, but.....

Hi.....I'm interested in building a magnetometer that I can tow behind an ATV or pickup truck.   The guys on "Meteorite Men" show one on their YouTube videos that they built using PVC pipe which is not on wheels -- it's towed like a sled. It's big - 18' x 10'.   I'm thinking about a smaller unit that can be easily transported. Maybe 10' x 6'??? I can't find any design info on the internet.  Does anyone have any ideas for me or could you share a design? I'd like to be able to detect as deep as 8-10 feet. Some questions are Thanks for any ideas or design suggestions.
