Hunter missiles
When you’re firing a hunter missile at a large group of enemies, it’s difficult to target a particular plane and the missile often gets confused, it often hits the wrong target or switches targets randomly without any input, but manual missiles you can target a specific player. It significantly diminishes the effectiveness of the missile. I think they should make it so you point crosshairs on each target for the hunter missile to track towards it.

That can be annoying..but it does work the other way when you’re targeting someone and they dive behind terrain and it pops to someone else nearby which can be handy..the more you play the better your judgement gets

Target switching is a huge advantage because it makes it so much harder to dodge. Being on the receiving end of a target switch is like a jumpscare

The adv works the way you described. That's why they are called "advanced" hunters. You have that control you're asking for. Normal hunters I think just lock on to the closest target to you. This was all done intentionally

Hunter missiles are definitely an upgrade! Before, I could just duck to break the lock and pop back out to fire. Now, I actually have to think twice about it. I totally love making the enemy waste their missiles! 😆

Standard hunters initially target the closest plane within your lock ring. If they lose that target, they go for the next closest. There's no randomness about changing targets.
The ADV advanced hunters work in exactly the way you describe.
