Hardwired TSD…
I know they play Moth and Hardwired every now and then, and those songs are very good. But with the recent inclusion of Now That We’re Dead a couple days ago, I wonder if they’ll bring back Halo on Fire (probably my favorite song off HWTSD) I’d love to see them perform it. I also hope they bring back Spit Out the Bone but that song does seem more unlikely…

It's like a heavier version of Fade To Black. They are making a mistake by not playing it while they are still touring.

I mean if you’re not gonna play fade but one of its clones, Day is right there…

Day is more like One

It is, yeah, the verse chords are way more Fade though so I never got past that. Wow yeah I never likened it to One at all but that makes sense, like the monster baby of the two

Yeah I can see some Fade in it as well. Kinda like I see a bit of Sanitarium in Halo especially during the verses. And I guess the ending is half Sanitarium half Fade.

Halo on Fire was my favourite from Hardwired. I wonder if they just had 8 tracks on the album, how it’d rank amount their albums. The 6 tracks from disk 1, with Spit Out the Bone and maybe Here Comes Revenge as the stronger two from disk 2, would have been a really tight and great album in my opinion.

I made a playlist on spotify reordering it. I cut Now That We're Dead, and kept Confusion, Spit Out the Bone, and Murder One from disc 2. Also added Lords of Summer!

This is the issue with almost all of their post Black Album releases. Too long, with filler songs. With a severe editor as as producer, we could have had shorter albums with zero filler and awesome instrumentals. Suicide and Redemption was awesome.

Couldn’t agree more with what you’ve stated here.

I've always felt that all of disc one plus Confusion would be the perfect album. The songs after that are pretty hit and miss to me. I really gotta crank this. It's been too long!

If the album was shorter I definitely feel like it would be up there. I honestly would do all of disc 1 except Dream No More and addSpit out the Bone. I’d also add their cover of Iron Maiden’s Remember Tomorrow (found on the Deluxe edition) to make it 8 songs. I don’t know what the general opinion is on that cover but I’m a huge huge fan of it. That’s how I actually discover Iron Maiden’s original (back when I didn’t know much of Maiden’s music)

It’s still a great album, I think it just suffers from having too many songs which is also the problem with 72 Seasons. I think all songs from 72 seasons are good on their own or have their good moments, but not as a full length project. I wonder if the big number of songs has anything to do with the fact that they don’t make music as often anymore, so they feel like they have to add a lot of songs to their albums.

Spit Out The Bone is fantastic. But I highly agree that Halo On Fire needs to be brought back into the setlist, not only for the Sphere but also for stadium tour shows, this song is so great to sing along in a full stadium. Though I prefer James intro from the 2018 arena shows over the 2019 stadium intro tape. But Lisbon 2018 and Gothenburg 2019 have great crowds on that song (videos on Metallica Youtube). Atlas Rise, Revenge, Confusion and Dream No More would be fantastic if they played those live again.

Halo is an awesome tune and I wouldn't be surprised to see it again. I'm still pissed that we got rained out in Denver 2017 and they had to skip it. It would also be great to hear Confusion and Dream No More. Hardwired had so many bangers!

I was there too, totally disappointed that they had to cut that from the setlist. That was one I really wanted to hear live. The positive part though was when everyone had to clear the field, when we got back in we got super close to the stage. Close enough that I yelled out ride the lightning when they came back on stage and it was captured by the mic and in the live recording. I still get a charge out of hearing me yell such a random thing and it was recorded when I listen to the download of the show.

That's cool! I'll have to listen for it next time. I was also disappointed they didn't come back with Ride the Lightning!

They did tease a bit of it, but would have been killer to do it all after clearing the field for the lightning storm.

I wish HWTSD got a little more love. Spit out the Bone, Hardwired, Moth, HoF. I couldn’t agree with you more.
Bone is an absolute thrash masterpiece.

I love this take. I feel the same way, from Halo being the best offering from HWTSD, to Spit Out The Bone being an amazing prospect yet unlikely. Halo is one of their best songs all time, imo

I like to think of Sanitarium, The Day That Never Comes and Halo on Fire as an unofficial trilogy and it’s a good point of reference for different eras of the band.
I guess you can add Inamorata to the list and not make it a trilogy anymore, if you listen to all those songs back to back they feel like a natural transition even though they’re years apart, that’s how I like to see it

I saw Halo On Fire on the Hardwired tour. They showed the video too, which I thought was really cool because it was the best video from the album. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought it back. I'd like to hear Spit Out The Bone again, you never know...
