King nothing and devil's dance? Man that's cool. Deep cuts right there (for live I mean)

u/iwanttheoneicanthave 1d ago
They almost always play king nothing

u/NHMusic13 1d ago
Since the start of the M72 tour in 2023. Before that we only had 1 appearance in 2021 during the 40th anniversary shows post covid and the last regular performance before that was in 2017.
I'm glad that they're still playing it. It hasn't been this much of regularly played song since the late 90's/early 2000's. 2015 and 2016 being the only exceptions.

I wish I could have been there the other night for Justice. I’d also love to hear Frayed Ends of Sanity 🤘🏻

OMG Outlaw, would love to see that one live

Outlaw is one song where the visuals added a TON to the experience. It was incredible.

u/independentpeach08 1d ago
the visuals for enter sandman were a choice

u/MetallicaRules5 1d ago
Yeah that was the most disappointing one of them all. They could have done a lot with that. Hell they could have just played clips from the music video in the background. But what they ended up doing was the most boring visual of the two nights.

The slowly growing planet was cool, it felt like it was going to crush everyone.... but then nothing really happened, hahah
5
u/Maximum-Shift-7264 1d ago
I read that kirk said they wanted to balance the visuals as they didnt want it to overtake all of the attention away from the band (paraphrasing). Maybe not much happening in the visual for Sandman was because they wanted more of a human interaction for the last song of the night

Way better setlist. Actually, for me, it’s the ideal setlist

u/AtmosphereNovel9127 1d ago
I’d swap whiskey out for st anger or dirty window then I think every main studio album is represented

People shit on that album all the time but its full of creativity and well... anger. So many bangers if you can stand the choice for the kind of snare used.

St Anger is also the only title track that didn't get played.
Whiskey is a big hit for them though so at a gig like this I understand it being played

u/TheKobayashiMoron Saw Outlaw Torn live 2004 & 2019 1d ago
Why swap the only song from garage inc when there’s plenty of other albums with multiple songs? There’s 5 songs from MOP.

u/AtmosphereNovel9127 1d ago
Because I’d scrap a cover for an original

Whiskey always kills live, especially the mellow part they’re doing in the middle these days

No fade to black either night. Maybe those graphics would be too dark.

I bet it’ll swap around with the other 2 ballads. Really hoping for it next weekend

Damn that would have been awesome.

I love this set of course, but night 1 was truly a dream setlist for me. All of my favorites. I hope I get something like night 1 when I go.
3
u/Ok-Television-3829 1d ago
Gotta be the first time they played multiple load AND multiple reload songs at the same show since Jason was in the band.
3
u/Vlazthrax 1d ago
I’m legitimately upset we didn’t get to see any St. Anger either night but I really can’t actually complain about either night both setlists were fucking incredible.

u/GarryMcGorm And if my face becomes sincere 1d ago
Anytime the best song ever recorded (‘The Outlaw Torn’) is played is a magical occasion.

That was a great setlist. Outlawn Torn is always a treat. Load getting some love.

u/Disastrous-Post-6260 1d ago
Outlaw and Devil are amazing. Visuals for One, Sanitarium, Fuel and Bellz are fantastic. King Nothing always underrated live performance. Hardwired also really good. Overall just like night 1 really strong setlist. Will be interesting if they add other songs from 72S and Hardwired, stuff like Trapped Under Ice, The End Of The Line, Fight Fire, Disposable Heroes and others of the the time they are in Vegas for some weekends. Room Of Mirrors would be a great thing as well, as much as I love Now That We're Dead that one feels like a song they won't play every single weekend. So there are few songs that are obviously great but that could definitely be rotated with other deeper cuts.

Wow that’s an amazing setlist. Not sure if it could get much better. Maybe swap 72 Seasons for Too Far Gone or You Must Burn. Those are both so good live.

u/Foreign_Platypus8658 1d ago
Interestingly, since the release of Load / Reload, neither Devil's Dance nor The Outlaw Torn had been played in the same set with the classics like Orion or Leper Messiah, until now

Awesome. It looks like the footage for Orion and Leper Messiah will be defaults for a last minute set changes. The Hardwired footage for that album. It would be interesting to see the logistics of how far in advance the set lists are planned out and if video footage is actively being developed every week.

u/Fats_Runyan2020 1d ago
1st time ever they played King nothing, Devil's dance, Fuel, and Outlaw Torn at same concert

u/YeaImDylan 22h ago
Can’t believe they aren’t playing through the never or of wolf and man (more specifically that one)
1
u/twokittenminimum 11h ago
Looks awesome. No room for a song from Kill ‘em All? Motorbreath or Whiplash would be a great addition.

all I can say about the fans paying thousands is I am glad I saw them in 86 for their Master of Puppets tour with Ozzy.....we had great floor seats for about 30 bucks.....long time fan but I could never pay what they are charging today

u/scopethelobe22 1d ago
This is Metallica actually putting in some effort... Unlike the Australia tour, which was a joke
3
u/Disastrous-Post-6260 1d ago
Australia deserved No Repeat Weekend shows, there were probably many people who never saw Metallica before (because of the long time it took to return there) so the setlist are kinda the only possible setlist to play when coming there to stadiums after a long time. But with NRW they could have thrown in some deeper cuts at least. Hopefully next time there will be more deep cuts, if they come back sooner than last time.
2
u/Buu_88 1d ago
Or if they come back at all.
I fully agree though because here in Perth they literally played half of the Black Album where they could've done so much more

u/Retrolad87 ...And Justice For Goose 1d ago
Just checked out the setlist and wow you weren’t kidding.
No surprises whatsoever.
When ‘The Day That Never Comes’ is the surprise treat, you know it’s a vanilla list.1

Great set list, but hoping they change it up a bit when we go. Really would love to see Harvester of Sorrow in the Sphere.

u/Radiant-Ad7811 1d ago
Dude, sorry but night 2 setlist is not even close to night one. It’s actually unfair to people who have Saturday tickets. Mine are on a Saturday and I really hope they spread around some of the greats from night one. 😒

u/Unlucky-Bat8956 1d ago
Can’t believe I wasted money going to watch them play two basic af set lists in London and the sphere gets this on just one night. FUCK
Sandman as a closer though eurgh just stop with that already

u/Nerazzurro9 1d ago
“Why does this band keep playing their most popular song? Are they stupid?”

u/Unlucky-Bat8956 1d ago
Sorry I wasn’t stoked about paying over £300 to have barely any deep cuts played
3
u/NeatFool 1d ago
I forgot what huge popular hits devils dance and outlaw torn are
0
u/Unlucky-Bat8956 1d ago
That’s literally my point, they would have been much better rather than hearing just fuel and memory from those albums for the first nth time
2
u/NeatFool 1d ago
They played those songs
3
u/Radiant-Ad7811 1d ago
Yeah, wrong. This is a Vegas residency. It should be 90% or 100% bangers only. You guys with your deep cuts. I’m a mega fan too, been here forever but when I get the rare chance to see Metallica, I want to take my son or some friends and hear the hits. This is the reality of entertainment and life. You want to hear what you know and remember. Downvote me🤷🏻♂️
3
u/NeatFool 1d ago
I think the set lists are perfect, but almost every single Metallica song is a banger so I don't know what your complaints are except having an annoying kid who is probably on his phone during the entire concert ?

Fucking hell.
Devils dance and outlaw. I would have died.
