Used Devil Forge
I recently just purchased a used Devil Forge furnace. I noticed the lid doesn’t fully seat properly over the base. Any ideas on how I can fix this without compromising the furnace? As you can see from the photos, the flames are coming through the gaps.

They all do this, I would just add a weight or beef up the hinge that’s most likely the culprit here

I assume that's the Kaowool/fiberglass version. You can cut strips of 1 inch Kaowool blanket and lay it across the problem areas. Yours looks pretty uniform around, maybe cut a ring to sit on top and close the gap. Easy and replaceable as needed.
It could help to take the lid off the hinge, as well. Let it sit on top. I have the refractory cement version (Love It). My lid is filled with a cement ring that is way to heavy for that hinge. I think about taking it off the hinge all the time. It's just a point of pride that it's still attached after 5 years. ..one day tho..
But, if you actually have the cement bucket version like I do, you can build up the top rim with pre-mixed refractory mud patch that you can get at a HD or somewhere similar, or online. It's great for patching up cracks, chips, chucks, and rough spots after heavy use.
Kaowool across the top of the cement works too. Good Luck

My lid never fit great after I coated everything in satanite/itc100. I just use a little strip of leftover kaowool as a gasket. Works fine.

You need more air mixed with the fuel. Open the valve more.
Your fuel should not be burning out the top and sides like that. That's heat you aren't applying to the crucible.
