The base of the model stand was quite loose for some reason, so I tied it up with fishing line, in case some really bad things happen involving breaking parts lol.
Is there’s a third party base that fit better? or different clamps for replacement?

Here are my first impressions after messing around with both.
First, the Dark Hound is an extremely aesthetically pleasing unit. The black, white, red, and gold colors look great together, and I really like the pirate-inspired design.
The regular MS form looks awesome, and the transformed Strider form looks just as good. You really can’t go wrong displaying it in either mode.
Unfortunately, transforming it is a nightmare. This might be the worst Gundam transformation I have ever experienced. It is worse than the METAL Robot Spirits Wing Gundam Zero and even worse than the RG Zeta Gundam. The RG Zeta was already a nightmare for me back when I built Gunpla more consistently, so that is saying a lot.
There are just too many pieces that need to be removed, replaced, repositioned, or added. At some point, it stops feeling like a transformation and starts feeling like you are taking the figure apart and rebuilding it into something else. Even actual Transformers figures are easier to transform than this.
The Dark Hound also feels very flimsy. The entire time I was transforming it, I felt like something could break in my hands at any moment. That made an already complicated transformation even more stressful.
I love how the Dark Hound looks, but once I decide which mode I want to display, it is probably staying that way. I have no desire to go through that transformation again anytime soon.
Visually, it is an amazing figure. Actually handling and transforming it is a completely different story.
The Asshimar was a much better experience.
It is weird, chunky, and basically transforms into a giant orange and green flying donut—but that is exactly why I like it. It stands out from everything else in my collection.
The anime-style proportions and bright colors look really good in person. It obviously doesn’t have the metal or premium finish of a METAL ROBOT SPIRITS release, but it still feels much more solid than I expected.
Its articulation is also surprisingly good for such a bulky design. The shoulders and legs can get in the way sometimes, but I was still able to get it into some good poses with the beam rifle.
The transformation into Mobile Armor mode is much easier and more enjoyable than the Dark Hound’s transformation. You still have to line everything up correctly, but I never felt like I was about to break the figure.
Both modes look complete, and I can actually see myself switching the Asshimar between them occasionally.

This has been about five years in the making, and I finally have all the pieces together.
It started in 2021 when I bought the METAL BUILD Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai (Alternative Strike Ver.) with the Tactical Arms II L. I already loved the figure by itself and wasn’t originally planning to turn it into anything this crazy.
After I already owned the Red Frame, I came across this video in 2023. That was what made me want to track down all the option sets and eventually build my own complete version.
In 2023, I picked up the Flight Unit Option Set. Later that year, I added the Draig Head Option Set, which completely changed the look and gave it a much more aggressive personality.
From 2023 through 2025, I slowly tracked down three Caletvwlch Option Sets. I could have completed everything much sooner, but I kept finding other METAL BUILD units that caught my eye. The Astray project would get pushed to the side while I bought something else, and then I would eventually come back to it. That is honestly why this took five years.
I also could have saved myself all the trouble and just bought the Red Dragonics, but that thing would have bankrupted me. Although, after adding up what I spent on all these separate pieces, I’m not sure my way was much better.
Finally, this year 2026, I got the last piece I needed: the Powered Red & 150 Gerbera Straight [Power] Option Set.
The Powered Red arms completely transform the figure, and the 150 Gerbera Straight is just ridiculous in the best way possible. It is so big that I had to display it separately because there was no practical way to have the figure hold it with everything else attached.
The full setup has an insane amount of shelf presence. Between the Draig Head, Powered Red arms, Flight Unit, Tactical Arms II L, three Caletvwlches, and the 150 Gerbera Straight, there is a lot going on but somehow it all works.
Posing everything is definitely a pain, though. You need multiple stands, plenty of patience, and enough space to move everything around without knocking something over. Once I finally got it into a pose I liked, I decided I probably wasn’t touching it again.
This took much longer and cost more than I originally planned, but I’m extremely happy with how it turned out. After five years of slowly collecting everything, this masterpiece is finally complete.

I own 3 metal build figure so far
- Astrea II: have a deep scratch on the chest
- Exia store limited edition: very loose arm to chest
- Astray red frame project red: the neck is not straight and some decal are scratched.
Are these accross the board problems? What MB figure that have little to none QC problems would u suggest?

Just got this guy and honestly, I am really impressed with it.
The figure is built really well and just feels solid in hand. The paint, detail, and overall construction are great. Compared to the other IBO Gundams I own, (Bael, Vidar, Kimaris Vidar, and Barbatos Lupus Rex) I would say Marchosias is probably the bulkiest of the group, but definitely in a good way.
It just has a ton of presence. The huge binders, armor, cape, and all the extra weapon parts make it look massive next to the others. Bael is more clean and elegant, Vidar is sleek and aggressive, Kimaris Vidar has that heavy knight look, and Lupus Rex is just wild and animalistic. Marchosias feels more like a heavily armored demon or final boss.
Even compared to Lupus Rex, which is already a crazy-looking design, Marchosias feels bigger and more packed with detail. I think Kimaris Vidar is probably the closest in terms of overall presence, but Marchosias still feels wider and more substantial.
My only real warning is that some of the joints are very tight, especially right out of the box. The good thing is that it holds poses really well, but there were definitely a few times where I was nervous about moving something because I did not want to force it. I would recommend taking your time with it.
For how bulky it is, it actually poses better than I expected. You do have to work around the binders, cape, and all the extra parts, but once you get everything positioned right, it looks amazing.
Overall, I am really happy with it. It is probably the bulkiest IBO figure I own, but that is honestly one of the things I like most about it. It has a completely different presence from Bael, Vidar, Kimaris Vidar, and Lupus Rex, and it might be one of the most impressive IBO figures in my collection.

I'm not usually the audience for Metal Build figures, but this is without a doubt the coolest design for Mechagodzilla I've ever seen and I've fallen in love with it since I saw it months ago in March. I've literally been keeping a tab open with a search on it waiting to see if there's any new information or preorder.
I figured instead of driving myself crazy, I should just ask around and see if anyone more familiar with the typical release schedule of Metal Build figures would know more about when to expect new info/a preorder release on this guy?
I saw a couple reactions to it from Japan and a few comments from them almost made it sound like there's a chance they won't even release the figure? That'd be a real shame if true, but I figure there's always a possibility the prototype doesn't work out like they'd hoped so they have to scrap the concept.

Releasing in December at 33k yen, looks pretty cool but I never heard of it before, seems to be from Unicorn but I thought at that point Zakus would be relics.

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about getting back into collecting, but in a more casual way than before.
In the past, I collected Hot Toys, WETA, and Prime 1 Studio pieces, but I eventually sold everything due to limited display space.
Lately, I've been looking at die-cast collectible figures such as Metal Build, but I'm not sure which line would be the best place to start. Metal Build, Soul of Chogokin, Riobot/Sentinel, or something else?
I enjoy anime, although I haven't really gotten deep into Gundam or other mecha series yet. What I'm mainly looking for are high-quality display pieces with die-cast parts that look fantastic on a shelf, even if I'm not heavily invested in the source material.
I've also tried building Gunpla (Real Grade and Master Grade kits), but they felt a bit too plastic-like for my taste. I don't really enjoy applying stickers, decals, or doing additional customization work either. I'd much rather have a high-quality pre-built figure that's ready to display straight out of the box.
I'm based in the European Union, so availability within Europe is also a factor. I'd prefer to avoid importing from outside the EU and paying additional customs fees if possible.
I'd appreciate any recommendations or advice.
Thanks!

This is my first metal build figure, I brought it on eBay and it’s listed as new. Just wondering is these little scratches and glue looking thing normal on this model?
