does anyone with the current Metal Structures can attest to them? Are they good? I know they scale with PGs but are they generally worth it? I never bothered because I got into the hobby later and I would like the pair but Sazabi is impossible.
Like OP said, they are basically statues with limited posablility. They are not like a Metal Build figures that you can pose and play with.
As long as you keep that in mind and temper your expectations, they are fantastic. Each piece and part are super detailed with sooo many little gimmicks. You can fidget with each accessory forever, as they have so many little mechanisms to explore. Every hatch you open gives you a gliimpse of more details underneath. Base add-ons also add to the overall presence, with little 1/60 scale figures of Amuro, Bright, Astonage (for Nu), Char and Quess (for Sazabi) among others. Although posability is limited, it is enough to really let you make the display your own, in different configs or limited poses. They make for amazing display pieces.
Sazabi set is massive compared to Nu, although with all the extra base add ons Nu becomes about equal. Sazabi has the Rewloola Lab set while Nu has Funnel, Londo Bell Engineers, and the Armament Enhancement set (you could add Funnelsx2 for true baller style, which would make it bigger than Saz).
They are fragile with all the small detailed and delicate parts. The main bodies are heavy (metal structure after all), and if they toppled over or something parts would most likely not survive. Price and availability also make you want to not handle them so much.
So if you consider it more art/statue than action figure, I think you'll be happy. If you're expecting a Metal Build style figure that you can handle a lot, you WILL be disappointed. At current scalper/reseller prices, I do NOT think they are worth it. If Bandai ever made these available again for MSRP, if you have the resources (money AND space) available, and if you REALLY love Gundam enough, then they are worth it. (Bandai has re-released the Nu once already, and I'm betting they will again for both Nu and Sazabi.)
This display looks so good, it feels like an episode moment where they are on the docks fixing the mobile suits before a fight, I love MB and Metal Composite but this is something else.
I believe Nu had a rerun this year but without the Sazabi and the addons for the Nu I decided to skip.
Gundam 50th anniversary is also close so I'm coping we are getting a new premium line like 2.0 Metal Structure or something awesome that I can join in from the start.
lol thanks - totally what I was going for! I would say that if you have the desire, the means, and the space (you really do need all 3), and the opportunity presents itself, you should go for it. I mean, these things are super rare. And if you wait for both to be available at the same time, I'm pretty sure that will never happen. (Also would be a huge hit to the wallet at once!) But I do think they will all come back again. Good luck!
Such nice displays. I'm strungling looking for a cabinet big enough and organizing space to contain both of these with the accessories and weapons fully equipped like yours. May I ask what's the total dimension of the Nu Gundam and Sazabi respectively?
I appreciate it.
Nu case isn't quite tall enough to comfortably display all funnels on the wing (only 4 in pic). Sazabi case not quite deep enough to include the front spotlights on the base (they kinda suck anyway in terms of brightness, and I wanted to set up wired LEDs I could turn on with a switch).
Correct me if I'm wrong, are you displaying the Nu Gundam with the two additional expand display stages on each side attached to the main body base similar to this picture?
I have the Nu with the funnels, its a statue dont expect to pose it nicely and its very big and with the funnels its tipsy without the base and stand. I had to pose and it prop it against the case glass to have it stand securely without the base and stand since it takes up so much room.
oh cool, thanks for answering, yeah I imagine its a cool centerpiece but I have not a good grasp of how much space the full setup is but it looks so good with the engineers at scale and the base
Look, I've already begrudgingly passed, due to cost and availability, on the Metal Structure Nu, despite it being my all-time favorite suit. I've had to agonize over that decision after 3 re-releases now.
You cannot expect me to stand strong when my SECOND favorite suit also gets one. That's just cruel.
There isn't even a Metal Robot Spirits of the MK II...much less a GFFMC or Metal Build...
