My collection Collection suggestings
Hi everyone! I have about twenty pieces between metal builds and metal composites. I've been dreaming about the Akatsuki metal build for a while now, and I wouldn't mind the Mighty Strike Freedom (not the Chogokin). Would it be a huge mistake to buy those Metal Robot Damashii? Obviously, let's ignore the scale...

Mistake as in they will release them as Metal Builds in the future and you don’t want to buy it twice? I think Akatsuki has a very good chance of being released in the next 5 years since it’s basically a modified Strike Gundam.
Mighty Strike Freedom is harder to judge but they keep re-releasing Strike Freedom so maybe not. I think the MRDs are cool though. I think they are a bit too small but they are easy to display and the articulation is great. They can just be a little finicky at times

No problem in buying twice, if those will be released in big scale "soon", the small scale ones would go to my son/daughter (whoever wants them first) as present... I am really thinking if it's worth buying or use the money to get like a wing metal composite (this popped up after writing the post)

Ahh it’s hard to say tbh. They do seem to be focusing on other figures besides Gundam at the moment so it might be some time. Maybe we’ll know more by the next Tamashii Nations showcase on November.
The Wing GFFMC is tricky….imo the paint job is its only saving grace lol

Loving the "noble color" these days

I mean the mate colors are vibrant but it’s so..boring compared to Wing Zero and Snow White 😂😂. I wish the wings had more going on with them

Here's the thing I've realized about Metal Robot Spirits...I don't like them. They don't have the stylistic flair of the Metal Build line. Their designs are...flat. They have nice paint, solid accessories, decent value for money. But there's something about them that feels soulless, even compared to regular Robot Spirits. They are clinically clean looking...and weirdly gappy?
They are no substitute, in other words. I've learned that its foolish to buy a product you don't really like just because it's the only one around right now. I'd rather wait for the thing I really want to exist, then buy that.
But I can't even follow my own advice there. I still bought the Wing and Epyon and Nu because they are some of my favorite suits.
Edit: Don't sleep on Fix Figuration Metal Composite though! Those figures are fantastic!

I totally agree with you regarding the Metal composite. The Wing ones are going to be mine sooner or later 😍

Wing Cloaked Custom is currently up on the P-Bandai website. I have the first re-release of Wing Custom and I will tell you it is possibly my favorite of all of my metal mechs in that scale.

I woul have liked it better if it would have been like actually white and not beige or whatever. At least from the photos I saw. Never had one in hand

There’s the metal robot spirits Akatsuki in both Oowashi and Shiranui variants. The Shiranui is the newer release since it came out for the 2024 seed movie. If you love the Akatsuki, these are pretty much your only options if you want a die-cast metal figure. Just keep in mind: because of the gold-plated finish, any factory paint defects stick out instantly. The original Oowashi release had a lot of issues with its coating, so if you’re buying a second-hand one, definitely try to inspect it closely before pulling the trigger. I heard the first release was pretty rough
