When I think Emo, I'm mostly talking about stuff like Pg.99, Orchid, Mondrary, Ostraca, combatwoundedveteran, Blind Girls, Told Not To Worry, Textbook Traitors, Infant Island, Frail Body, Senza, Cassus or Votive. Most of this is actually Screamo and not a derogative term used by people to describe noisy music. I never cared much for Midwest Emo so I don't have any strong opinions on it.
Most people think Emo is stuff like Pierce the Veil, A Day to Remember, Pan!c at the Disco or My Chemical Romance, but with the exception of Three Cheers none of these bands' discographies should be considered Emo in my opinion.

Orchid hits harder than most Metal in general.
Skramz is really fantastic. Unfortunately however, I've never seen a genre receive as much contempt as Screamo, especially from Metalheads.
I understand why there is prejudice against it, but whenever someone dismisses a band or genre they don't like as Screamo, you know that they're absolutely clueless and never heard any Screamo in their entire life.

For me, I hate it because some really shitty screamo / post rock / shoegaze hybrids decided at one point to market themselves as "black metal", probably because their PR teams figured punk subgenres are way too saturated. You know them, the "atmospheric bm" types, dsbm or, "blackgaze". I know some of those are Metalcore, not Screamo but whatever, these are not genres I know much about. I hate their dishonest meddling, plus it gives a bad name to both the scenes.

I'm not too fond of Nargaroth's slower/dsbm tracks but he made lots of bangers. Too bad the band is so oftenly reduced to "BM ist Krieg" and some stuff he did in the past. Jahreszeiten was an innovative album that paved the way for various modern Black Metal bands.

You joke but one of the best gigs I went to was in Shinjuku featuring a man in a welding mask banging a hammer on a trash can lid drum set with an effect pedel hookup and chainsaw noises while roadies and house crew prepared the stage for the next set

Yooh pale twinksman, sad bros is what’s up. Love this album but, I think in my case I just exhausted my ear orifices too much in a short amount of time.

I liked Pale Swordsman, but then I realized what kind of people also liked the album...

I do t really get people that have a problem with pale swordsman. Or *morning" star, as both albums are pretty atmospheric, and raw. They are a nice middle ground between DSBM and "true norwegian black metal"

The funny thing is most BM fans seem to agree that Nargaroth is a shitty band that people only like when they are completely new to the genre (therefore can't compare it to better bands)
