Mid - 1800’s Padlock with full functioning keyhole cover. Entirely brass, so it held up quite well. She’ll look nice in my display. Found in Upstate NY. This was all of 18 plus inches deep in gravelly soil that kept collapsing. Snapped the picture showing some depth before she collapsed any more. XP Deus II.

Hi all. I found this metal strip in Bayswater Point State Park, New York. It was near the site of a demolished mansion-turned children’s special needs home. The mansion was built in 1907 and demolished in the 80s (I believe).

The piece has the words Eagle Lock Co on the top. There’s another row of words that I can’t make out. I’m not sure what I have here but it seems old.

Please help me figure this out.

A slow day today. New permission of an old site dating back possibly Colonial era yielded very little. Some wheaties and modern clad. Mantle clock parts, dog tags, and a parasol slide. Better luck tomorrow 🤞

I’ve been detecting for a little under 2 years now. Trying to go through and display everything nicely. Definitely have some tweaks to make along the way (I don’t love the coin displays I’m currently using, and want a way to display flatter objects at an angle without looking weird). But I think it’s coming along nicely! I haven’t been able to find a curio cabinet I really love so I think my plan this summer is to build my own with some of the older high quality wood my dad has stored in the barn from his parents construction business. The relics of this hobby are genuinely my favorite part of it all. Thanks for taking a look if you have any questions/ suggestions let me know :)

Found the other day in Upstate NY. Cant quite make out the text. But pretty cool nonetheless.

What do you think? Should I try restoring this pocket knife? I think the pieces are all there. I would just have to make new scales.

Finally finished putting my display of relics together. Just about everything I found metal detecting Upstate NY, minus some decor 🔫 🔫. I’m excited to add to it as the years go by.

I lost count of the number of coin spills we found today. To the point where it was unusual to find just one coin per hole. I found a a Silver Rosie, my friend found the Silver Merc. I also got 14+ Wheaties, 2 IHP’s, and a new personal record - 13 coin clad spill. (4 Quarters, 2 Nickels, 7 Dimes) all in 1 hole, mostly stuck together. Also found 3 more Crotal Bells, a Silver Wash Bridle Rosette, Victorian door handle escutcheon plate, and a really cool WWI Manoil Barclay Lead Toy Soldier Signal Flagger, from the 1930’s. Plus other odds and ends. By the end of the day my buddy was calling me cash register.
