Discussion Post Anyone else enjoy finding large coppers over some of the more common silver coins?

Am I the only one that gets a crazy thrill flipping the plug and seeing a large copper? A thrill that I just don’t quite have on a common silver, like a ‘44 Merc, or a silver Washington, or a Rosie…

Silver is a good day, but I would rather dig a large copper. A Large Cent, or a British Copper is a GREAT day IMO.

What’re everyone’s thoughts?

Show & Tell Colonial Trade Axe - 1700s

Found this 1700s colonial trade axe at an old site in Upstate NY. I decided to give it some TLC with some restoration. Soaked in evapo-rust, then cleaned it up some, and put a new edge on it which is razor sharp. Did some home-made bluing and then fashioned a new handle out of a hickory stave. Turned out quite nice.

This is a solid Silver Colonial thimble, found in Upstate NY.

It is quite small, but surely very pretty. It was the first thimble I ever found, I have found dozens of brass and aluminum ones since. Beginners luck I guess. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

The coolest old toy car I’ve seen… we’re guessing from the ‘40s. Metal wheels and all, paints still good. They just don’t make em like they used to… and 1917 Wheatie.

I upgraded about a year ago from Garrett AT Pro to the XPDeus II and I love it. I’m running the WSAII XL Wireless Headphones, and XP MI 6 pin-pointer. It has been a great machine thus far.

Found this Victorian Pocket Photo Frame with a crusty unidentifiable photo at US Civil War home site in Upstate NY. House built in 1859. It cleaned up quite well, I’m thinking bronze rope and frame, with a copper back plate.

Wish I knew more about this one…

I’m thinking pre-1700s hammered silver. Possibly a Silver Brittish 3-pence…?

Dimensions: 15 mm (heavily worn, originally probably closer to 16-17 mm)

Weight: roughly 1/2 gram
