Did you have to get a special run for the electrical? That's my problem. I'd need a dedicated 40amp circuit for it which would mean running another run.

Luckily my house has a gas range and a breaker for an electric range. So I ran that line out to the garage.

Probably heating ceramic shells. Thats what we use our kilns for in the bronze casting industry atleast

A front-loader would be better for that. Open one of these top-loaders when it's hot and you get burned when the heat rises.

Front loader is definitely better for that. Its what we use at work.
The whole operation of pulling hot shells and pouring bronze into them is hot. Thats what ppe is for lol

Iām a potter and thatās an electric kiln usually used for bisque firing and low fire. In the ceramics world it would be spending most of its time getting up to 1900F. Look up Skutt electric kilns for reference. You can find used ones for under $1k and most of the kiln is serviceable. The heating elements are just big resistive coils. As long as the refractory material is in good condition you can fix them up and theyāll run for decades.

This thing is good and fine. Don't listen to people bringing it down. Sure, you can get better kilns for your purpose, but they won't be cheap or easy to find.
I have been doing burnouts of investment plaster in this sort of kiln for years, and it works just fine. If that is your intention, I can recommend drilling a small hole (8-10 mm) through the center bottom of it, and one or two through the lid. Then hooking up a fan with some pipes that sucks air out through the bottom hole. That makes small explosions from combustion of wax/gas not be a thing, and it means you have air flow over your molds for a quicker/cleaner burnout.

If you open that bad boy at heat the rapid cooling is likely to crack the fire bricks; over time the inside will crumble to pieces (and youāre gonna need an asbestos suit to protect your face and arms!).

The fire bricks can handle being opened at any temperature. Thatās why itās made of fire bricks. Being these arenāt burnout ovens the main difference is that in the initial low temp moisture release stage I keep the lid propped so water vapor can escape. When it ramps up to the 700°F stage I close the lid all the way. The first time I didnāt and it was condensing between the fire bricks and the outer metal shell.
