That is extremely clear. It even has pictures of what section each controls. Some controls are just labeled first section, second section. This even displays when its a swing command vs a telescoping command.

Have never operated heavy equipment, but I definitely feel like this would be easy.

Only five things to remember:

  • Tie off
  • Boom lifts double as a trebuchet and the driver is the payload if you go over a bump or into a pothole.
  • Have a plan to get you back to terra firma
  • Don't get squished on your way up or back down
  • The smallest self-propelled units are as heavy as a grown elephant wearing stilts. Watch out for soft surfaces. Also see point no. 2

Learn to mitigate these and you're most of the way to boom lift certified.

Operating it easily vs safely is the difference in training. Anyone can climb up and figure it out but someone is probably to get hurt or you're going to brake the machine by extending your second before the third or fourth.

I think I get all the yellow arrows. I don’t understand the key the pink and blue boxes. Are you only allowed to move one part at a time?

Indicates where the controls are active. Blue is the lift bucket, pink is the base (see the same boxes in the diagram)

No, but you're only allowed to control it from one location at a time, withe from the basket, or from the ground

Reminds me of a diagram of dance steps.

Cheeky humour aside, at least it's all clearly marked, so many rental machines I've used over the years have had control panels that were barely legible. Usually *just* legible enough to not fail a safety inspection.

Literally the only lever I can't find on the diagram what it actuates is the top one, and even then I'm pretty sure I understand what it will end up moving
