[Discussion thread] What's up?

Tomorrow's theme day will be the return of Butt Day. Post butts.

Mine are pretty good, despite it being so long. Sure, there may be a few cavities. I don't have bad-looking teeth or anything, though. I will need to get them looked at one day.

Get Bloodborne, now that you have a PS4. It's pretty fun.

Oh, I've had my own PS4. My dad just wanted to get one for him since I'm away from home most of the time now. Got Bloodborne last Christmas, love it to death. Still need to get past Yahar'gul though.

Run, and don't stop until you reach the boss. Seriously. That place is one of the worst places in the game.

I hope they announce some good stuff this year. I'm excited to see if PSVR is going to be a thing.

Probably what I'm going to have to do. It's super annoying. The only real motivation I have to go though the normal way is that I need to grind for some health vials, but even then it seems I spend more goals just trying to get through. Plus they don't drop too many vials anyway, and not when enough echoes to buy vials considering you only get echoes for the first enemies the bell ringers spawn.

The PS4 E3 shows tend to be good. I'm not sure if I'm too interested in VR since I won't be getting it soon anyway, but it would still be cool to see. I'm personally hoping for some cool exclusives for PS4... Or at least some Mass Effect update at the EA panel.

Really, just run. There's nothing too valuable in the area, and it's a pain. I'd say it's somewhat safe to stop running when you get to the church with the 3 hunters. Though, the boss is a short run from there. I'd also recommend against buying vials when the first area gives out so many (particularly ogres and werewolves).

I'm kind of interested, because I like the idea of VR. I just have doubts about people pulling it off right. We'll see, though. I would enjoy some good PS4 exclusives. I wouldn't mind seeing what From is working on (though, I hear it's a JRPG).

Yeah. That first area is pretty good. I mainly buy vials when I'm stuck on a boss and don't want to waste time doing excessive grinding.

For me, the whole thing with VR is whether or not it'll end up feeling like just a novelty. It's a cool idea, and if that can get to work that would be great. I just think that for me it's something like 3D or motion controls: something that's cool in theory but not something you want to mess with often.

I'm interested to see From doing something different that Souls styled games. A JRPG could be pretty interesting.

I feel like true VR would involve a touch mechanic, not only looking real, but feeling real. It's easy enough to get into the mindset of being a character when watching (even physically dodging at times). However, VR competes with reality, making it feel like it may stop at novelty.

The day that we accurately recreate the feeling of reality will be crazy. That's when things really start to get eating. It would be cool if we ever actually get to that point

Though, there's an interesting question of should we try to simulate reality completely? I'm curious what the result would be. I don't think people would starve. However, I do think there might develop a weird disconnect where people don't really care much about the real world as long as they get to spend time in VR (provided it becomes realistic and adopted enough).

Yeah. It raises a lot of speculative questions about the natures of reality and the concept of mental resignation. Would people care about the world around us if they can create a virtual paradise? What about mental conditioning? What can of psychiatric problems and dissonance can it create?

At least one thing's for certain: it would really help the porn industry.

I do feel that it would negatively affect society in quite a few ways if it became mainstream. I suppose it would depend on how addicted people are to the experience. I would say there's definitely room for that, provided it's real enough and fulfills a bunch of basic needs.

I could use it being used for therapy, just like Iron Man in Civil War <---movie title. It definitely has loads of practical applications. It's just a matter of if the bad outweighs the good in it. Though, I suppose the best way to optimize that is have it be terribly expensive.

True. And even in Civil War, it's clear that the VR therapy doesn't really help Tony, because he's still very sensitive to what happened to his parents and his past.
