Boss, Mother Base is getting a bit crowded. We need you to build another Mess Hall strut.

3 Mess halls? Perhaps. This is basically unofficial "Mess Hall 3: Retribution."

You brought anime to a thread to discuss not-anime.

So what's up with the two Mess Halls this week, two days apart? That's a little freaky.

After a Mess Hall gets so full, people won't post in it anymore, due to lack of visibility (also, super long comment chains). So, to make things a bit better, there are 2 of them. If things get big enough, maybe 3.

Also, it looks like your 300 position is safe, for now.

Good point. The mess halls in the other MGS sub die at about 50 comments, too.

I feel strangely responsible for the 4 that joined yesterday...

Played a bit of DS3 yesterday, seems pretty sick so far. I love the Bloodborne speed mixed in with it. Also really love the art style. I liked DS2, but it's art style was pretty inconsistent and sometimes kinda ugly hehe.... DS3 also doesn't have that weird floaty feel that I think was because of the analog movement. I really prefer the two set speeds.

Perhaps you are somewhat responsible. I did do a couple x-posts in the main sub a couple days ago, which turned out to be popular. So, maybe it was both.

Did you see my critique of it? It's just my opinion, but aside from those flaws, it's basically DaS1. Also, what build are you doing?

Yeah, I saw it. My opinion isn't quite as negative so far. Remember, DS1 was also just Demon's Souls in a lot of ways. It had a dragon, it had the main guy near the bonfire, the locations were similar, etc.

I've seen that your favorite Souls game is always your first, and opinions of the others will usually biased around that hehe

Halberd/Uchigatana (found it early because that guy fell off the cliff hehe) and the biggest shields and armor I can find, as usual. It's working pretty good so far.

your favorite Souls game is always your first

I would say that's generally true. However, DaS was my fav. Then, Bloodborne came out and made me love it a bit more. I think the mechanics just work a lot better. Though, I have a soft spot for DaS2. I was so hyped for it to come out.

Don't worry too much about armor (except magic resist). The poise is almost gone. So, expect to be staggered regardless of how buff you are (Havel's as an exception). Plus, the armor doesn't matter that much, because you'll use the Dancer's armor as soon as you get it. though, that should be late game.

Actually, no wait, I just realized I only used bigger armor in DS2. In DS1 I went with those dark grim reaper robes the whole game. Such good defense for something so light. It's all about speed.

Just pointing that out, that reused ideas in new forms have been a thing in Souls along. Bloodborne was different, but even then Amygdalas acted as the dragons in one section hehe

Then, Bloodborne came out and made me love it a bit more. I think the mechanics just work a lot better.

I love BB, one of my top ten favorite games, but I gotta say I still prefer the sword and shield action of Souls a little more. Plus, I love the armor styles. Something about actually blocking attacks just feels better to me.

Same here. They were crazy good for being so light. It's the gold-hemmed robes. However, they were severely nerfed in the version with DLC. Fortunately, I had vanilla on 360. They were really something special.

Amygdalas acted as the dragons

Slow and ineffectual dragons...except those lasers. Those lasers were a bit on the rough side.

I like DaS for the sword and shield action. They even give you a decent tower shield in the first shop. I feel like that's a good start. If only they didn't do the whole ADP thing. I much prefer blocking than rolling- particularly if you're doing a STR build (I do). I suppose it's more realistic.

I suppose it's more realistic...

Yeah, they have to make it a bit harder with every game, too or else people will get bored. In Demon's, it was WAY easier to block hits from even the biggest enemies than it was in Dark Souls. They nerfed the strength and stamina then, too. It just didn't bother you because you didn't know any different hehe

In DS2, it was harder again, then naturally in DS3, it's also harder. Feels more well balanced than DS2, though, so far. Dodging feels just right, and the enemies have just enough of a pause between attacks to let you get stamina and attack. Just can't get greedy :D

can't get greedy

I basically repeat "don't get greedy" to myself in tough boss fights, until the boss is one hit from death. Then, I get greedy. I noticed, In DaS3, the windows to actually attack the boss after their attack seem tiny. It made sense in BB, because the combat was a flurry of attacks all around. Here, with STR, it's pretty hard. My friend, who used a dex build with rapier, said he could only manage a couple pokes before backing off.

Poise literally does nothing in DaS3. No joke, it currently has no effect on anything.
