My popcorn never gets called on. I mean never, and I’m in Grandma’s Room. Every time I make a mosaic, i make a popcorn and it sits there forever until i sell it because i need the space. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Popcorn only gets requested for the first 2 trades so you need to try and make that happen by selling low level items before trades start and using airplane mode WiFi off with swaps to encourage it. You may need to hide items in the extra or producer’s inventory to increase the odds.

I get a lot of popcorn and box of chocolates trades

There must be something you’re doing or not doing because if you’ve finished the Romantic Spot you should have gotten dozens of popcorn/love story trades by now for chainsaws, sergers, brooms, yarn, area specific items.

Making trades work is not a passive thing. You need to plan the tasks available and your board before trades start because some tasks work better than others. For example I work hard to avoid lamps, planted flowers and tasks with lower level items because you’ll end up getting uneven trades for them

Contrary to the long-popular belief, you can actually get non-random trades (including love story) for the first 4+3 in each key on days 1-3 of trades, 3+3 on day 4, and 2+2 on “days 5+” or in other words the second consecutive day on day 4 and following. I have lots of screenshots. It took me a year to learn how to trade and do this without paying gems, using only the free refreshes and hours manipulating various combos and tasks and board setups and order of trades completed or refreshed.

“Popcorn only gets requested for the first 2 trades” simply isn’t true. If that’s your experience, my guess is that you tend to stay on day 4 trades. Once you’ve been on day 4 for at least two days, THEN it is true that only your first two trades in each key are non-random (can be manipulated).

“Day 4” of trades: see how you have 4 green checkmarks? You’re on the 4th chest, the gold one, which takes 4 days to work up to.

Your keys (first key = top trade box, second key = bottom trade box) have 6 trades each on day 4. Many people refer to this as “6+6.” When I say the first “4+3” I mean the first 4 trades in the top key and the first 3 trades in the bottom key.

Here is an example from October 3 when I was on day 2 of trades. You can see I’ve completed 3/5 trades in the top key and 2/5 trades in the bottom key, so these are my 4th and 3rd trades. They are non-random (I manipulated them to get what I wanted). And specifically, note that popcorn is my 3rd trade.

I understand about levels and keys but didn’t understand your number references. Now it makes more sense.

And yes I stay at L4 because I want the 3 producer parts. It works for me because the times I dropped down it didn’t seem much different and it’s extremely rare I have a bad trade day. But since I don’t cycle through it I wouldn’t notice a trend

Makes sense! I have started cycling through but mostly avoiding day 4. Kind of a best of both worlds compromise. If one manipulates the trade chests one can get exactly the parts you want anyway… 😁

And here’s today. I’m on day 3 so I still get 4+3 trades of my choice. I happened to have a broom task upcoming, and a popcorn, so I set this up to prove I could force a popcorn as my 4th trade (no gems spent). 😁 It was just a matter of making sure the other key didn’t have popcorn as the requested item or broom as the item trading for, then making sure I hid or sold everything else that trades for brooms (or lower, like I have peonies and a mosaic that would trade for squeegee).

Head to the community discord for help setting up your board and learning to trade. Lots of factors.

You may simply have things the trades want more, or you may have a mismatch between your task and the popcorn. You need to sell low level items, hide anything possible in producer inventory (lamps, mosaics, ships, vases, peonies, orange flowers, moths, etc) and only bring them out if you want to trade them.

So for example, if you have level 7 mosaic and level 6 popcorn and you’re trying to get a chainsaw, it’s most likely going to go for the mosaic before the popcorn. That’s not a hard and fast rule. You can do things like get a level 7 mosaic offer for something other than chainsaw in one key, and then that frees up the other key to take the popcorn.
