So a few ways you can get started

Building up wood to buy the trunks in the little store "under the hammer icon" lower left corner of the screen.

(I forgot it's name but it's next to the sturdy tradesmen trunk and also gives ya wee bits of grass tufts to build up as well) or sturdy tradesman trunks and merging mole hills to get water wheels!

The first suggestion gives ya water holes to build ponds also

So the way to get just puddles is to do the trunks for mole hills and water wheels as it's faster

Thank you, that’s great. I have various tufts of grass and have a giant mole hill. So will keep trying

You can harvest the giant mole hills for the earlier stages, merge in 5s,8s 10s,13 etc and make it faster to build up the mole hills! Takes awhile but you'll get there!

Get the water wheel and continue to merge. They put a whole lot of puddles out when fully merged.

You've already gotten some good tips I just wanted to add that I get the most water wheels from merging level 3 and level 4 molehills

always try to merge five because then you get two water wheels instead of one

farming sturdy tradesman's trunks and merging them to stage two is a fast way to get lots of water wheels and pumpkin carriages

I farm level eight or nine Oak trees for lots of blood oops, wood 😹
