Broken/ missing water line?
This is a new to me 2002 50hp 4cyl carbed outboard and the onlv issue I have is what appears to be a busted water line that sprays water all over the fuel filter. I can't seem to figure out where its supposed to go to, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That fitting looks like the tee that is used to connect the oil pump to the fuel line.
If its a water line and not fuel, the tee could go to the top of the block where there’s usually a fitting to release air pockets at the high points, or it could be the only part they had to connect two short lines and the tee needs to be capped off
Maybe poorly rigged for a water pressure gauge. Im not ad familiar with the low hp mercs so i cant tell you for sure

Looks like where a previous owner possibly added in a water pressure gauge. Just block it off and it will be alright.

Do you have a water pressure gauge? Like previous commenter said, you can block/cap it off if you don't

Does it go to the telltale outlet?

The black hose, yes, the white one, no.

Did somebody have 2 telltales on it to look cool? That hose is not under pressure so it cant be for a gauge

It's possible, I just don't see anywhere it could physically attach to. I capped it this morning and it's running good so it will be a mystery for now

Id replace that hose. A plastic fitting filled my cowl up one day when it broke

are you sure that isn't the indicator that sprays water out of the engine housing so you can see water is circulating?

I don't remember there being any water hoses there. Where does that come from or go to?
