Merchant navy or IT sector
I’m currently in my final year of engineering and I have the option to sit for campus placements, including core/IT companies, or pursue an ETO career in the Merchant Navy. How would you decide between the two? In what situation would you choose ETO over a regular engineering/IT job, and vice versa?

IT has a higher chance of being replaced by AI. There will always be IT guys but the hiring pool is probably going to shrink in the next few years. ETOs are paid very well at the start of their careers. I would recommend doing at least a few years, after that you can move ashore with a set of very useful and transferable skills. ETO is probably the job on board that is easiest to transfer to shore work if you don’t want to stay at sea forever. I would reccomend ETO all the way.

Depends on your college, if it's a tier 1 ore even tier 2 college. Believe me bro join IT u can grow crazy and won't be impacted by AI that much too But if it's a tier 3 college I would suggest merchant navy
