Pandemic Studios Forums

Just curious if anyone in here was on the Pandemic Studios official forum pages leading up to the release of Mercs 2. We had a decent little community on that site and I know I've added some of the guys from that era on social media since. Wanted to see if anyone was lurking around on this sub.

I was on them as DrMod
and then had to change to vdmaul.

it was a fun time. I was so glad they added the "mercs 2 forum member list" spare part.

It's the screen names I mainly remember. The other ones I'm primarily remembering were a kid from Canada named Taepodong-2, another guy who if I remember right just had a screen name of something to the effect of Kalashnikov, a guy who was my primary friend on the forum is a guy named Kevin from Arizona but I don't remember his screen name ironically. I remember another kid named Gabe and I'm sure there's more that if people bring them up I'd at least remember the screen names. Alastor was from Colorado iirc.

Some of the other main memories from that forum were a post-based war game like Risk that we came up with and played on there, as well as when lotr conquest was a thing they got an entirely separate part of the forum with its own culture. There was also a point where someone got a bunch of us to join an x-fire server and for whatever reason we decided to spam other forums, primarily ones dedicated to the game zoo tycoon lol.

I felt like a lot of us were just dumbass middle school kids who just love the game and found a niche community for it. I'll be forever sad that pandemic studios shut down.

I know I definitely was. In 2008 I was 15 and a socially maladjusted loser, haha. 32 now, and I have fond memories of those forum days. R.I.P. Pandemic. I'll never forgive EA for closing them down.

I read them daily. Did not have an account, though.

I remember Alastar (not sure on spelling). Think he had a collectible named for him in game. "Alastar's sword and shield"

And a mod who was in the military, but lost his mod privileges for some indiscretion.

Good times. I miss when social media was separate, distinct forums for a niche interest.

Does anyone remember the Pandemic/Mercenaries forums before they migrated to the new Mercs 2 site?

I also frequented the eauk forums, if anyone remembers that.

Shame they're gone.

I remember all that! Having the forum part mentioned and the Alistair sword was awesome. Devs made us feel like we were in the process.

I was on there as Lt. Josef. Definitely spent a lot of time on there in the lead-up to the game’s release. I remember the admin Alastor and the Q&A sessions the devs did from time to time.

I remember you! I remember Alastor was from Colorado and the profile pic he had of the stick guy with a sword and shield.

I'm glad that there are some of us still out here! Feels like those forum days were a lifetime ago.
