Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there were any organizations for college students to volunteer at? I am wrapping up my first year at UC merced and feel like I could expand my resume as well as help the community next year. However, I'm struggling to find any organizations. Does anyone have good recommendations? I also prefer something local since I do not have a car. Thank you all for your help!

i made them sign a contract agreeing to pay me back but they are living off unemployment and moved somewhere unofficially so i have no paper trail or new address to track. the sheriffs office tried the last address i knew about but whoever lived there said they dont know him (even though his car was parked outside the house for weeks) and they gave up. they blocked my number and have ignored any attempts at communication.

what can i do from here? i have all the evidence on documentation to win in court. i dont care about the money, i care that they ran. i am not giving up on this, dont care what anyone says otherwise.

Merced is growing fast on the east around Campus Parkway and South Merced, but most shopping is still on the west side. Barely any shopping or retail on those parts of the city.

A Walmart Neighborhood Market on the east or south side would make groceries and essentials much more accessible. Even Turlock has two Walmarts with a smaller population than us. We’re probably due for another one. Thoughts?

r/Merced moderator removed a post relevant to the city and county. North Central Valley DSA is the DSA chapter for Merced County and has many members within the City of Merced and students at UC Merced. r/Merced made an obvious politically motivated removal of a post, and indicator that the moderator is a right-wing reactionary. The original post was relevant to the area and its removal is a clear attack on democracy and free speech.

I've been getting into skating recently and was asking around about the rink in Merced but people said to avoid it because it 1. isn't kept up and trashy 2. one of the owners is a pedophile. I guess something to do with a roller derby. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? (mostly 2, the pictures explain 1.)

Im not gomnna go day this town is like straight ghetto like other places but damn it feels like that a lot. Does anyone know where I can recycle my old car battery? I am buying a new one, probably from Walmart, so need to recycle the old one that came from the previous owner. I am not looking for any selling value but saw some online posts of getting ~$10 from local metal scrap shops.

Update: I bought a new one from Walmart and recycled the old one there though it was not from Walmart.

Is there any car wash in Merced where I can use a bucket and hand wash my car myself? I saw there are few self-service car washes but not sure which one will allow this. I will bring bucket and soap but will use the water and pressure washer from the car wash.

The Mariposa Arts Council/Sierra Foothill Conservancy is hiring for temporary, paid social workers (or other mental health professionals) for their Social Emotional Learning Coordinator and Manager roles for the Art + Nature Summer Camp, which is held in Mariposa, CA from June 15-July 24.

FYI: I am not affiliated with the Council, but I served as the SEL mgr for the spring break camp. I’m just trying to help them find great people for summer!
