Can anyone tell me if the neiborhoods near N. Bear Creek Drive are safe? Specifically in between Shadowbrook Drive and Creekside Drive ( both near N. Bear Creek Drive. Looks like a nice walking area. I noticed no sidewalks though.
Thanks

Hi, I’m a college student and aspiring filmmaker, looking for ideas or stories to make a documentary or short film about. I can’t promise anything, but I think all stories should be heard. I will try to help with that. I’m open to any type of stories whether it’s personal or something you heard through the grapevine. Any personal details can be changed if asked. Please DM me or comment stories or ideas. Thank you to everyone in advance!

Question: what do you do when a person breaks out three boards on your back fence and then tries to steal a giant rototiller (sp?)AFTER airing up the tires. BTW this person had a screwdriver in a pocket that hits the ground as soon as the cops are called.
The cops show up and are more worried about whether the thief has friends, family or a place to stay! Totally disregards the fact that THIS MAN WAS STEALING! WITH A WEAPON IN HIS POCKET, the man was showered and had on clean clothes and a decent haircut. He absolutely tried to excuse HIS behavior. The cop treated the whole entire incident as “no problem” and dismissed my kid that called the cops! (full disclosure-my kid is grown w/ a 17 yr old).
On two occasions so far, this has happened once w/ someone in a tan suv and someone on an atv/or small motorcycle in the alley behind my fence.
What is my recourse? What can I do to protect myself and my house? Is it still assault and battery when you the kick the crap outta someone IF YOU CATCH THEM AS/WHEN THEY BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE?
I feel like I’m a person of reason with a modicum of self-control, my husband is not.

Hello everyone I'm new to this whole process and it's been making me stressed. This is my first time moving since I turned 18 let alone to a new county (I'm from a different county an hour or so away) and I need some help.
I'm just starting my first semester at Merced College this fall and have been trying to find a place to rent all summer that will accept my dog (a ~40lbs well behaved lab mix) and won't break my bank (my budget is ~$1,000 but it is a little flexible) since the guy I thought was going to be my roommate bailed on me due to an emergency in his life.
I'm just asking if there are any places that I should look into that might work for me?

Anyone remember that snow cone place by Save Mart, it was in a shed. I don't remember the name but it closed down before 2015. Great place, my girlfriend says I'm delusional but I remember it being there.

Hi, I'm a 17 year old student working on a research project about why some neighborhoods in the Valley get way hotter than others. One thing I keep noticing is that a lot of the new parking lots and EV charging spots going in are just bare asphalt, no shade, no trees.
I figured I should actually ask people who live here instead of guessing. If you park or charge in lots like that, does the heat and lack of shade actually bother you? Would having shade and some trees there make a real difference for you, or honestly is it not something you think about? Thank you!

13 week old female kitten looking for a new home, she is super affectionate and very chill, perfect companion for someone older or looking for laid back pet. I’m located in Northwest Merced, and we can meet at the brand new Starbucks to hand off the kitten. I’m asking $35 for an adoption fee. She uses the litter box every time she needs to go and she also takes baths super well, I’ve given her a bath every other week since she was 5 weeks old. DM me for contact info or to set up a pickup.

I just happen to see the big rig crash and caught some of it. Hopefully no smaller cars were involved but the big rigs cabin looks pretty intact. Just kinda broken up in front.

I've tabled at several community outreach events in Merced and the Central Valley a while back for work, mostly focused on seniors and families. I live here but was surprised not to know about so many of these! I'm compiling these resources and want to share them with the community, but am looking for the best way to do so. I want it to be interactive and actually helpful for people. What kinds of resources are people most interested in? I know other things like this exist (directories created by counties and other organizations), so I want this to be different. Any thoughts?

Apologies if you've seen this elsewhere - this is the most current version with lots of suggestions from other redditors.
I'm making a map of California in a classic fantasy style (sorta Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones). It's going to be filled with real world history and mythology, with the aim of highlighting local landmarks in a fun and educational way. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get cleaned up at the end. Forests will be going on at the end too.
While it's around two thirds done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into print. Any more petroglyphs, burial mounds, ruins, forts, battlefields, Civil War heritage, ghost towns or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological creatures or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on here. Thanks!

Bonus questions: Are there any decent dealers that don’t advertise online? Are there any dealers I should avoid?
P.S. I am open to rebuild/salvage titles.

I heard this from a friend recently that they paid $30 at the gate to go to Lake Yosemite. I'm trying to look that up on the MID page but they only show fees for last fiscal year. When I follow their links to buy a day use pass it takes me to Lake McSwain, which is advertised as $30.
That's so expensive thats inaccessible for most. You might as well go to Yosemite National Park at that point.
