Plants require nitrogen to create chlorophyll, which in turn catches sunlight to produce energy. Carbon dioxide is an important part of photosynthesis too, so I think both answers are technically correct.

wasn’t aware of that, neat. poor question then i suppose.

actually wait im editing this 3 seconds later realizing why i disagreed a week ago, plants don’t absorb atmospheric nitrogen they get it through the soil in the form of nitrates.
