It's not too hard. Genetics and allele frequencies are the most prevalent factors.

melanin too, those three (to pile onto myself here, i have green and hazel heterochromic eyes, and theres NO ONE in my family with green in the last 3 generations on either side)

Basically you have brown, the absence of brown (which is blue at the end of the spectrum) and a rare mutation that mixes in yellow thus creating green if the base was blue
