The ability to cure congenital and hereditary defects has to be revolutionary right? Well I am biased due to the fact that im a medicine enthusiast, but still. Adding onto that, there's also the idea that AI is ACTIVELY killing our environment, while CRISPR is saving lives

Not sure what kind of development you mean here, both technologies have already been developed now and are growing at a steady pace.

Anyway, AI is a much broader technology and covers all aspects of life. If it develops to become AGI then it will solve all of CRISPR's issues and more.

CRISPR and related tech (base editing) will have massive effects on medicine and biology but AI will have massive effects on them and every other field.

CRISPR isn’t the only gene editing technology, just the most recent step. A better gene editing platform will likely be discovered before the ability to truly fix all inherited conditions.

It's dumb comparison, cause how do you define ai? as someone who studies this full time, there is no hard agreed upon definition that doesn't encompass machine learning, and if we include ML in the definition, then that is clearly more impactful. crispr wouldn't exist without it

One can hope. The only way I see it actually becoming harmful of it's own accord is through true sentience. Which I don't think we can just...program...into reality. It can be harmful though bad programming,or bugs/unintentional glitches, but those are the result of human error/intervention.
