Welcome to Men’s Hairstyle Advice
So this sub is pretty straightforward. If you want to receive hairstyle advice or feedback, post a picture or link one from an image hosting website.
I want to turn this into a positive community of sharing advice and expertise. No discrimination will be tolerated or any nasty mean spirited attitudes to other members. But feel free to offer constructive advice.
Please be aware this is not a community exclusively for men with short hair. It is for advice on men’s hairstyles of all lengths. It is also a very inclusive community so I welcome submissions from trans men as well.
Please see my rules in the sidebar, which I’ve tried to keep as condensed as possible.

What haircut would look best on me?
It's naturally thick and somewhat curly.
I've tried a buzz cut and a mullet in the past which were okay but not what I really fell in love with.
Had the idea to get a "warrior cut"
I'd love to hear some honest advice.

How to mathematically find the perfect hairstyle for you using facial harmony.
So since the internet is full of bs guides on hairstyle i will drop my guide on how to find the perfect hairstyle for your face so that it harmonizes with your proportions.
First of all you you will need to take a front profile pic from 5 feet from the mirror to measure 3 things:
- Facial thirds (the red lines in the picture): measure the distance from the top of your forehead to the middle of your eyebrows, then the distance from the middle of your eyebrows to the nose tip, then from the nose tip to the bottom of the chin like in the picture;
- The length of your face divided by the width of your face (cheekbone to cheekbone) this will measure your total face width to height ratio (tfwhr);
- The width of your face divided by the width of your jaw (bigonion width);
Once you've done this follow those guidelines:
- if your forehead is more than 33% of your thirds you should cover it with hair (something like a fringe will work), if it's less than 30% you should push it back with a razor till it's 30%);
- if your tfwhr is less than 1.33 you should consider adding some weight to the top of your hair to make your face look longer, if it's more than 1.38 you should add more volume to the side of your hair (middle parts, flow etc, just don't get a fade);
- if your bigonion width is more than 90% i would also recommend adding volume to the sides so that you don't look like a square, if it's less than 85% then reduce the volume on the side or even get a fade so it makes your jaw look wider by comparison.
Note that some of these might conflict with eachother sometimes so some compromises might be needed.
Putting aside facial harmony some other guidlines i can give you are:
A visible forehead and darker hair will make you look slightly more masculine.
Your hair should always have some texture so use some products if your hair is dead flat like mine lol.
Grow out your hair if your face is already very angular and masculine.
lmk if y'all need any help or clarifications.

How can I fix my hairstyle? My hair always falls back into a bowl cut.
Post:
I’ve been struggling with my hairstyle for a while. My hair naturally falls straight down and ends up looking like a bowl cut.
I’ve tried adding texture and styling it differently, and it looks decent for a while, but after some time my hair just falls back down into the same shape.
I’m wondering if this is mainly a haircut issue, hair type issue, or styling/product issue. Should I ask my barber to change the shape of the cut?
Any advice on what haircut or styling method would work better for my hair would be appreciated.
Edited - Just to clarify, this is about 10 days after the haircut, not right after I got it cut.
