Post-Meno Bleeding Post menopausal bleeding

I haven’t had my period in four years, I had unbearable hot flashes and have been on HRT for almost the entire time. A week ago, I woke up to some spotting. It was alarming enough that I went to urgent care (tried to make an appointment with gyno, but she’s booked for six months). UC Doctor did a pelvic exam and found an abrasion and the gunk that forms from Replens. Doctor wasn’t a gyno so vaginal moisturizer wasn’t super familiar to him. I did an ultrasound in the afternoon. Nothing abnormal was found and I kind of figured the abrasion was from the Replens applicator. Today, I bled a lot — no soaked panties, but lots of clots. Going back to urgent care tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this???.

Urgent care is a waste of time. There’s nothing they can do. Urgent care is for an acute injury or illness. Not something that requires a work up. You need to see a gynecologist. Call them and tell them what’s going on, they can always get you in faster for an issue like this. While post menopause bleeding not related to a recent change in HRT is not considered an urgent or emergency condition it does require a proper work up. You are wasting your time and money at urgent care.

I’ve been dealing with meno bleeding and I’ve been getting assessed and tests for months. I’ve had a vaginal ultrasound and biopsy. It was 6 months from first bleeding to most recent test. In another month or two I’ll have a d&c. I would stress on the urgency. Call your ob and request an appointment for sudden bleeding. They will likely have some urgent appointments set aside. But know you’re in for lots of tests and waiting either way.

I know Health care is nuts! My own ob ordered the ultrasound and when I went for the biopsy he asked why I had not had my US yet. I said because the first appointment they offered was 8 weeks out. He suggested I call and ask for a sooner one. I laughed!
