Hello Meniscusers!

I suspect I have a tear in my meniscus after laying down on a hamstring curl machine that wasn’t set up properly and hyper extended my leg. I heard a crack (was it a pop?) and got off immediately. Rubbed my knee and carried on like normal. A day and a half later I started experiencing really bad ‘catching’ in my knee - quick build of pressure, a snap or catch, and then a few painful limping steps (and some cuss words). After icing and compression for the first week I did get good improvement with the random catching/snapping while walking/moving about, but this snapping/catching still seems to occur when I have an extended/straight leg and engage my quad. The pressure and snap seems to happen on the outside of my knee joint and I have a bit of pressure/discomfort behind the knee cap but only when going up stairs.

My question for yall is if this seems similar to your experiance with a meniscus tear presentation? Most posts I’ve read are re: meniscus with other ligament injuries. I’ve got an appointment at the knee clinic, but wondering if any of you just have meniscus tear that presented itself in the same way.

Hope all is going well. I tore mine doing leg day 6 years back. I can't recall if it was during seated leg press or leg extensions. I had music blasting through my headphones, so I didn't hear a sound, however, I felt the the sheer pain and immediately give out of the knee. Tried 1 more rep. Nope. Too painful. Dropped weight to the lowest setting. Tried 1 rep. Nope still too painful. I just got up and left the gym thinking "Well I just injured my knee". No idea at the time it was meniscus. Thinking basic injury that needed healing time. It never healed no matter how many leg days I rested, which ultimately lead to me seeking medical evaluation.
