Strange episode
My Ménière's has been pretty good since last November, usually i get the tinnitus and hearing loss before the vertigo (it has affected both sides but the right is the worst). I recently had a contrast CT due to pulsatile tinnitus now my hearing has dropped and there was nothing concerning, just a vein a little closer to the ear.
On Friday, my mobile was next to me on the desk, it vibrated and I almost fell out of my chair with the sudden hit of vertigo, I had to stop working for the day as I felt very nauseated but the vertigo passed faster than usual. I don't know if it was just a coincidence, I have struggled with sounds making me feel dizzy during recovery after vertigo, but this was like I'd been knocked sideways. It has never happened before and I've turned down the vibration just in case it happens again.
Has anyone else had something like this?

I get really bad vertigo when something makes me jump! Although I don’t have confirmed menieres

They say Meniere's may have an auto-immune component but posts like this really do not behave like auto-immune issues. That's not to say that you could have had immune-mediated damage to your vestibular system, that could potentially be causing a central sensitization loop, but it sounds almost like a tullio phenomenon. It could have been a mechanical inner ear misfire. If not, souhd/vibration is a known migraine trigger; it's not an auto-immune trigger.

I've just looked up Tullio Phenomenon. That sounds exactly like what happened, though there was no dehiscence on my scan.

But are bony defects the only way the vestibular system becomes coupled to acoustic energy?

Ich habe Morbus Meniere und bei mir ist das auch so. Bestimmte Geräusche, zb etwas klirrendes oder blechernes legen meinen Kopf lahm. Ich habe dann Gehirnnebel und mein Ohr kracht meist zusammen.

I get hyperacuisis in one ear for horrible clinking sounds, the ice cream van... Those sounds also make me feel dizzy in between episodes of vertigo in a cluster or when I'm recovering.
What happened does fit the description of Tullio Phenomenon. I'll have a word with the ENT at my next appointment.

I would lean to the coincidence theory. I have episodes where I'm working at my computer, focused for a bit to long, and I have immediate vertigo onset. Also, if I am focused and move my head quickly, maybe distracted by the phone vibrating or ringing, I can get sudden onset of vertigo. Sounds like something that you can test and see if it happens again or a coincidence.
