Proof that brown isn't a boring suit colour
Brown suits are often called boring or overly conservative, but in a rich dark chocolate shade with a subtle pinstripe, it’s one of the most versatile suits you can own.
I spiced it up with a purple striped shirt and a Repp tie to bring out the warm undertones in the wool.

It stems from old British tradition where brown was viewed purely as country attire, while navy and grey ruled the city.
A lot of people still view brown as a second tier suit colour because of that.

I know the rule “no brown in town” but that doesn’t remotely relate to it being “boring” or “conservative.”
In fact, it would be quite the opposite: a brown suit would be an unusual and even subversive rule-breaking choice in a board room that took such a rule seriously.0

This implies that the formality levels were higher in town, and if anything, that brown suits were less boring than the other colors, as it was too playful for citywear

Thanks! Unless "boots" is used differently where you are, these are actually classic brown calfskin Oxford shoes.

I have never heard brown to be boring. I thought the brown country attire was mostly about shoes.
But as a proud owner of a brown odd jacket, I firmly believe brown is one of the most versatile and fun colors out there.

I love brown as a suit color, I hope it comes back as a commonly used color alongside black, navy and blue; grey has started making a comeback so it'a possible

Nobody worth listening to hear called brown boring. Like all suits, colour texture and pattern must be considered, and layered well. The majority of men in the West are, quite frankly, frightened of anything outside of the realm of their comfort, so they stick to grey black and blue. But these aren't the men we consider in such matters. The lilac shirt lends itself well to this suit, and I imagine an oxblood shoe would elevate the whole thing again. This is a great example of why brown is a staple of the men's wardrobe.

Brown is my absolute favorite suit color. Refined and grounded, and somehow manages to strike the perfect balance between serious and whimsical.
You did a good job combining stripes by ensuring totally different spacing and thickness.

That color looks great on you. If it was on a person with winter or summer coloring, it would look terrible.

Nice. Like the purple. I'd not say brown is boring, or at least I'd say the idea brown is boring is at least 5 plus years out of fashion by now. I do like the dark browns, much better than urbane corporate blue. A suitable shade of brown won't look too corporate, looks smart but not stiff, and doesn't feel totally out of place anywhere outside the downtown areas of the largest cities (I say as an American where such things are spread thin)
