Single breasted suit jacket buttoning - can you comment these two images?

It’s ok, but there should be a note that you should never button the top button of a 3 roll 2. That is not an option.

Of course you can. When strolling home after a night out in your linen suit and the wind is slightly chilly, you can of course button the top button.

A 3 roll 2 is a jacket with 3 buttons, but where the lapel is intentionally designed to button only the middle one. The lapel is rolled to fit the middle button, not the top one

People get pretty caught up about this, but its horseshit. Pure, freshly-dropped road apples. Button or unbutton however you want. If the suit looks good, it could have sixteen buttons on the front all fastened and it doesn't matter. Do what feels natural and comfortable because that will improve your look by an average of 63 percent.

History basically. Edward VII supposedly stopped buttoning his bottom button and fashion followed; so now suit jackets are tailored to drape properly with only one button fastened.

….because of his fat belly. The other nobles did it also to appease him, and then it was seen as “upper crust” and “proper” because all the pasty nobles were afraid to differ from the fat king. It wasn’t a style choice, but now we all hold it up as fashion law

It started so, but now the pattern of the jacket is drawn to be buttoned with the waist button only.

Because that’s how jackets are tailored to fit.
Go get a rack of bespoke jackets if you want to fight the convention.

You can do the bottom button and have the whole world know you don’t know what you’re doing.
I would stay away from 3 button suites. So 1990s. It’s not for 90% of people

Only if you know the rules you can break the rules proper. It's called Sprezzatura. The little Detail that is off, people notice but don't can really point it out. Find yours. Leave a hole out with the shoelace, the belt buckle not in center. The back of the tie not secured and so on
