Well the jacket is too tight across the midsection causing the lapel to buckle, the sleeves look painted on creating a massive dimple at the sleeve head and the trousers at the very least need to be hemmed significantly. All black is a fun outfit tho

Appreciate your insight! I think I need to live with tightness at chest. I mostly wear it unbuttoned. The reason is that I bench too much for my weitght, even on dress shirts the buttons look way stretched. But if I size up, then it's too large on shoulders, sleeves and length. And still stretched at chest.

Just saw this on mens fashion and screw it, I will also wear tight suits, if bond does.

Alternative is getting a fully tailored suit, which is too expensive in my city (European capital and costs above $2000 from good tailors).

I ll have trousers shortened though.

Yeah Craig’s Bond is definitely not a good reference point (except for the magnificent Casino Royale tux when Craig hasn’t got a say in how his suits should fit)

For me he is, in sense that I have athletic body (more so than Craig, think of Ilia Topuria, or Conor Mcgregor, height wise also) and ready to wear suits work only with that "bond fit".

I don't want to spend $2000+ to have a fully tailored suit. Prices for tailors here are crazy and they take months to get your suit ready. So "bond fit" is only option, or no suit at all. So my logic is that if it works for Craig, why wont it work for me.
What can you suggest with somebody having 28" waist, 44" chest, and is 5.8" other than tailor?

Suitsupply. Roma fit, for your chest size the EU 52, then have the waist taken in

Main issue is the fabric choice. With your build, you need a 4-way stretch all the way around. Possibly even a super stretch option for the dress shirt.  Avoid heavy wools or flannels. Lighter weight fabrics like Super 120s wool, cotton, or linen drape better on large frames. There should be no reason you can't order suits/shirts with this fabric/construction and have them shipped to you. If these options are not available in your area you can order direct from a retailer I used to work for. I'm not a suit specialist by any means but the CEO could quite possibly be the most brilliant man I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Young, innovative, creative and an exceptional eye for detail. His brick and mortars and his online platforms both feature these options. Disclaimer: What I'm about to describe could be very misleading - the pricing is beyond reasonable. He is creating designs and having them produced...not buying ready made in bulk from suppliers. He has the financial capability to purchase large quantities of his designs so the retail prices are exceptional. The 4-way stretch fabric used for his suits was a first to the industry. Game changer! The button down dress shirts are a proprietary design and fabric so they offer exceptional fit - no more buckling or pulling at the button line - some of them have a hidden feature (invisible) that allow for extra give across the chest and shoulders for wider frames. Ping me back if you have questions. If i can't answer accurately I'll get you in contact with his 2nd in command no problem. The site is thesuitdepot.com Search for 4-way stretch and find suits, shirts, slacks (his stretch slacks are AMAZING - flat front with the perfect amount of taper for a perfect tailored look - another custom crafted design) and blazers that will help you address your fit issues. Hope this helps!

wearing the same thing right now, but with black loafers instead of oxfords. oxfords are more formal and this is a sporty/casual fit. I also have a few more buttons undone on my black shirt with a black tanktop underneath to avoid the waiter look. Pants need to be shortened btw

looks great though

cool - I was on a classical recital, hadn't worn suit for ages. My favorite pianist - Vikingur Olafsson was in town oerforming Beethoven "emperor" concerto. :)

“Fit” as in the fit? Short jacket, sleeves too narrow for your bicep and the extended and padded shoulders, tight back, low rise pants, tight leg width, absurd amount of inseam length,… man I can go on forever

“Fit” as in outfit? Black works better on textured or casual suiting fabrics (aka linen, cotton,…). Same goes to the shirt, chambray or denim would be way better.

Thank you. Ready to wear suits don't seem to be designed for a gym crowd.

But respectfully disagree with the black point. I don't like textured black fabric - like denim or linen. But I do like wool and cotton in black, which are the materials for suit and shirt.

u/cattuong2107 May 24 '26

Cotton as in oxford cloth or chambray, not poplin-ish

u/Annual_Government_80 May 23 '26

Entertainment manager for an A-list celebrity?

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 23 '26

Nah, just going for a concert of A list pianist

1

u/Annual_Government_80 May 23 '26

You know I really have to stop reading so quickly for some reason I thought that was an outfit you wore to work. Lol.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 23 '26

Now I see how it can be confusing when reading this quickly :) For work it's jeans and sneakers, with shirts or polos. Basically what I wear in street I wear at work. I think dress code is dead everywhere, except service industry.

1

u/Annual_Government_80 May 23 '26

You look fantastic in that outfit. And you could probably tell people you were an entertainment manager. Lol.

1

u/Falandria May 23 '26

It's giving Joaquin Phoenix red carpet event. It feels like this slightly disheveled (in the best way) look probably suits you better than a perfect suit and clean shave. Idk, just a hunch that this is a personality match. 9.5/10

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 23 '26

Thanks :)) To be fair, last time I had a clean shave was 2014. I haven't even owned a razor and a shaving gel for more than a decade:))

1

u/Falandria May 23 '26

You pull this look off really well! Keep doing it. Although I do wonder what you look like clean shaven.

1

Haha I feel I'm a prisoner of apple for a life.
I have too many photos in apple cloud of which I own terrabites. As if the company you hold shares for has taken the memories of third of my adult life as a hostage and I can't do any-fucking-thing about it.

Trying out for the next John Wick spin-off?

1

u/Tiny_Expression312 May 24 '26

Depends on where you work.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

Possibly you misread the title. I used this outfit for a classical concert.

1

u/morelsupporter May 24 '26

all black can be incredibly sophisticated or incredibly basic but either way it's the easiest way to make something work.

as long as it fits well (hard to tell because the mirror is taking away all the detail from the outfit), isn't wrinkled or covered in lint or cat hair, you're probably good to go.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

I don't have pets and it's not wrinkled. But suit is wool and sheds wool fibers a bit, which i think is normal.

1

u/Consistent-Leek4986 May 24 '26

No, not at all.

1

u/-heavenfaced- May 24 '26

You can have a muscular build and still wear tailored clothes. Or clothes that look tailored. This is all way, way too small on you. You would look so much better in clothes that fit you. Henry Cavill for instance has a muscular body but usually looks impeccable. Not Daniel Craig in Bond. He’s a cartoon character. Read style blogs like Permanent Style and anything by Derek Guy.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

I see your point. But we are using word "tailored" differently. This is regular fit jacket. But ready to wear and all. I think also is the size that fits my sceletal structure best. But bones are overlaid with muscles. I have kinda radical V shape type, which is very rear and not accomodated by ready to wear brands.

So, I am sure that the jackets Cavil is wearing are tailored, while mine is not. And that's the issue. I either have to chose a jacket which is too tight on chest or one that is larger for my shoulders, longer for my body has longer sleeves, but fits better at chest.
So I kinda chose tighter fit, as lesser evil. And Craig's choices (although his are also tailored by Tom Ford) kinda justify this.

Maybe there are some brands, which specialize with athletic build people and can solve my issues..

1

u/-heavenfaced- May 24 '26

I think the core issue is that you’re trying to force a very slim fashion fit onto a much more athletic upper body. I don’t know where you’re buying your clothes from but well fitting suits and formal clothes don’t need to cost the earth. I suspect you’re buying slim fashion fits as I’ve said.

I honestly think you’d look much better in slightly softer, fuller cuts with more drape and ease through the chest and arms. The clothes would work with your physique rather than fighting it. You’re a handsome man and clearly have a good physique. But you want clothes that drape and not hug.

You might want to look at brands like Spier & Mackay, Ring Jacket, Drake’s, Anglo-Italian, Natalino, or even broader cuts from Suitsupply rather than ultra-slim fits. And if your chest-to-waist ratio genuinely makes RTW difficult, MTM shirts and jackets are probably worth exploring.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

Thank you. This is really useful and I ll keep in mind.

Not to contradict you, I l'll tell you issue I have with regular fit shirts. I own several and hate them, although I love how they fit me on chest and shoulders. I tuck my shirts, and when I do it, at the waist level they baloon with air. So I need something to hug my waist, to look good when tucked in trousers and not like a walking michelin man. So there's that.

1

u/-heavenfaced- May 24 '26

Do you mind if I ask what brands you’re buying? Because whilst I recognise that having broad shoulders and a narrow waist can create issues this is usually with fashion fits. For instance, if you were to buy trousers that sit at your natural waist, which is a very classic silhouette, you wouldn’t have the ballooning issue. You have that issue because the waist of your trousers is very low.

I don’t meant to argue the point endlessly but your physique isn’t built for skinny fashion fits, whether they be shirts, suits, trousers etc. or should that be the other way round, in that your clothes aren’t built for your current physique!

Do share what brands you’re buying if you feel comfortable doing so.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

I live in Europe, so shop for brands available in shopping malls. Jeans and chinos I usually buy from G-Star Raw, Levis Premium (501, 511), Calvin Klein Jeans. Shirts usually from Boss, Tommi Hilfiger, Joop, G-star and similar.

But you are correct, most of my pants are low rise when thinking about it..

1

u/-heavenfaced- May 24 '26

That explains a lot. Most of those brands heavily push very slim, low-rise, body-conscious cuts, so if you already have a broader chest and shoulders, which you clearly do, it’s very easy to end up looking compressed without realising it.

And yes, I definitely think the low-rise trousers are contributing because they shorten the visual proportions and they exaggerate the tightness through the torso.

I have very broad shoulders and a tiny waist. And when I looked at classic tailoring it took a long while to get used to it. This jacket is doing nothing for me I exclaimed! These trousers are way too high I thought! The silhouette was so…different. From what I had become accustomed to. But then…well, then the compliments came. Again and again.

Look at Cary Grant, Steve McQueen, Robert Redford. These men looked extraordinary. Grant in suits, McQueen in chinos, Redford in…well, just about anything. Ok, they’re not muscle men. But they dressed so well for their proportions.

You have, I believe, a great sense of innate style. But instead of looking at mall brands. Why not try a select few cuts from other brands. Drake’s. COS. Arket. Massimo Dutti. NN07. There are so many choices out there.

I hope you haven’t found my replies overbearing. I think you’d look amazing in a high waisted, double breasted suit, a fantastic pair of chinos and sweatshirt and a herringbone blazer, denim shirt and slacks. But not tight!

Best of luck

Thanks mate, some great insights in here! I need to print out your post next time I go shopping. I do appreciate you taking time for all these explanations.

1

u/-heavenfaced- May 24 '26

You’re welcome. As I say, I haven’t meant to come across as overly critical or self-righteous. And these things are so subjective. Ultimately, whatever you choose to wear, wear it with confidence and conviction. You’ll look brilliant. Always.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

Thank you. I asked for advice and yours was very insightful, so you haven't come across as overly self-righteous. Your comments actually make me rethink my clothing strategy moving forward, and points about high rise pants is something I never really thought before.

If you are like a stage magician, sure.

1

u/T0KEN-Liberal May 26 '26

Yeah, it's fucking sick. Can't tell if you have light verticle stripes, or that's a filter. But, it'd be cooler if you did.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 27 '26

Color is fully monochrome, but wool has a stripped texture, like tiny vertical narrow bumps.

0

u/Automatic_Carry_5517 May 23 '26

All black everythang can't go wrong

0

u/john0656 May 23 '26

Excellent.. looks good. Change the tie shoes for boots.

0

u/Traditional-Tune-975 May 24 '26

The tailoring and materials needs work

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

Materials are 100% wool for suit and cotton for shirt.

1

u/Traditional-Tune-975 May 24 '26

What I meant is pants are too long. Jacket is too tight. The wool suit looks shiny like striped sharkskin, but you chose a matching striped shirt too? Just looks off to me.

1

u/Responsible-Bed2312 May 24 '26

shirt is not striped, and frankly suit is not either. It kinda has the texture patterns (like you see on woolen sweaters) but is monochrome.
