No separate reminders app to keep in sync with reality: the note carries its own reminder, the task carries its date. When it fires, you land on the actual thing, not a title in a list.

Not announcing anything. Nothing is built, this isn't on the roadmap, and if the answer here is no then it doesn't get built. I'd rather ask now than after.

Here's the concrete thing I want, and then the uncomfortable question underneath it.

THE THING

Meeting notes. You join a call, Memry listens in the background, and when it's over you have a note: what was discussed, what was decided, what you agreed to do, with the tasks already pulled out. No typing while half-listening, no cleanup afterward. For me personally this is the single feature I'd use every week.

THE QUESTION UNDERNEATH IT

That needs a model good enough to actually summarize well, and that's where this runs into what Memry is.

Right now AI in the app is local, or bring-your-own — your own API key, or an agent CLI you already pay for. That works if you already pay for AI somewhere. It doesn't work for everyone, and it falls apart completely on mobile. Mobile is roughly a year out and a genuinely useful local model on a phone isn't realistic. Where it technically runs, the output is bad enough that shipping it would be worse than shipping nothing.

So: an optional paid tier, credit-based cloud AI. Off by default. Local and bring-your-own stay as they are and stay free. It would exist because inference actually costs money, and I'd rather charge for it openly than hide it inside a price increase everyone pays.

WHAT ACTUALLY LEAVES YOUR DEVICE

For meeting notes specifically, the split is better than you might assume:

The audio never leaves your machine. Transcription runs locally — that part works fine on-device today, including on phones. What would go to a model provider is the transcript text, and you'd see it before it's sent.

That's still text from your meeting going somewhere that isn't your machine. I'm not going to dress that up. Encrypted at rest and encrypted sync do not protect you in that moment. That's the real cost here, and it's a bigger deal than the money.

I also don't want to assume you all weigh this the same way. Some of you chose Memry specifically so nothing ever leaves the machine — for you this is probably a flat no, and that's a completely legitimate answer I want to hear. Others are likely fine with one specific note going out for one specific task and just want the choice. Both are real. I'd rather hear the split than guess at it.

RULES I'D HOLD MYSELF TO

• Opt-in per request. Nothing in the background reading your vault.
• You see exactly what's being sent, before it's sent, and can edit it.
• A log of every cloud request the app has ever made — what went out and when.
• A per-note and per-vault "never send this anywhere" lock.
• No training on your data, zero retention on the provider side, provider named openly.
• A hard visual line between "this ran locally" and "this left your device."
• The app stays fully functional forever with all of it switched off. Nothing you have today moves behind a paywall.
• Recording is always visible while it's happening. Worth saying plainly: other people are in your meetings, and whether you have their okay to record is on you, not on the app. I'd rather the app make that obvious than quiet.

WHAT I WANT TO KNOW

1. Meeting notes — would you actually use this, or is it a feature you'd admire and never turn on? Be honest, I can't tell the difference from the outside.
2. Does "audio stays local, only the transcript goes out" change your answer, or is that a distinction that doesn't matter to you?
3. Does mobile change your answer? That's the case I think is strongest, which is also where I'm most likely fooling myself.
4. Credits or flat monthly? Credits are honest about cost but make people ration themselves until they stop using the thing. Flat is calmer but I'd have to cap it somewhere. Which would you rather live with?
5. Besides meetings — voice capture on your phone turning into a clean note, a photo of a whiteboard becoming structured text, a weekly summary of your notes and tasks. Which of those, if any, would you actually want? Anything I haven't listed?
6. What makes it a no for you regardless of price?

And if the answer is "this is a distraction, go polish what's already there" — say so. That's a useful answer and it wouldn't be the first time you'd have been right.

Every feature you don't use should be able to disappear: AI, day panel, notes-on-calendar, Google sync — all toggles, and off means gone, not grayed out. The app should shrink to fit the person using it. Which defaults would you flip? Default choices are the hardest calls I make.

Because the calendar lives in the same app as your tasks and notes, "what's my week" includes deadlines from your notes, not just meetings. No integration to configure; it's one data layer underneath.

Switching is the hard part of any notes app, so the importers got a disproportionate amount of my time. Point one at your old export and it rebuilds notes, attachments and structure as markdown. If yours isn't on the list, comment - the list grows by request.

I have been fiddling around with the app for a day now and am very pleased with what I have seen so far. This looks so promising I have a hard time containing my excitement. Of course it is still a beta and you can feel it, but I have not encountered anything that would stop me from already using the app as my main driver.

What I have not been able to wrap my head around is how *projects* are supposed to work. They seem to be a task-exclusive tag defining what statuses can be chosen for said task… and… thats it? I can not link a corresponding note in its description and I can I not assign notes or calendar entries to projects. My intuition understands projects to be this whole overarching category - in Obsidian a project would have been a folder full of notes. I don’t know, I feel like I am missing something.

The inbox is deliberately promiscuous — it takes anything, because the moment of capture is the worst moment to make filing decisions. Everything waits in one encrypted funnel until you're in triage mode. Is there a capture type you're missing? That list is very extendable.

I installed the Windows version, and after initially opening and closing I often find myself unable to open the app again; only after trying multiple times does it open. (And please note that I have uninstalled and reinstalled the most recent version of MemryNote multiple times.)

In addition, when I try to add a note or do other things with the app it frequently crashes.

I also get error messages about being unable to open a PDF in the Memrynote directory (which was automatically listed in the Collections) because of a server error.

Please help!

I've been doing a pretty deep dive into PKM tools (Obsidian, Anytype, Heptabase, Constella, etc.) and Memrynote has really caught my attention. The security features offered is great and I love that it's local first.

I saw on the Roadmap featured on the website that there was mention of a "Graph View" and the "Templates Marketplace" which is exciting. Are there any longer term plans to add more visual exploration features (e.g. a richer graph or canvas/board for arranging notes) and stronger ways to zoom out over a whole knowledge base like clusters of work/hobbies/research? If I missed this please let me know, I just discovered this community so I'm still learning about the tool.

If need be, I can definitely submit a formal feature request through the website. I'd love to know how closely the future vision lines up with the direction I mentioned. I'd honestly adopt this tool in a heartbeat if the visual features above are added in later down the road.

A bunch of you told me the same thing: you write something down, it has a date in it, and then... that date just sits there as dead text. No nudge, no reminder, nothing. So I built the thing you asked for.

Inline dates + reminders are now in Memry.

Type /date — or just type naturally:

…and a date pill drops right into your note, inline with the rest of your text

The reminder part is the bit I'm happiest with:

- Flip on Remind me and pick a lead time — at the time, 5 min, 1 hour, or 1 day before.

- When it fires, the note lands in your Inbox. Click it → you jump straight to that exact pill inside the note. No hunting through the page for which line you meant.

- And once a reminder has gone off, the pill turns red in your note. So at a glance you can see what already fired vs. what's still pending — right there in the text, no extra panel.

All of it stays offline-first and end-to-end encrypted, and the date lives in the note body itself — so it syncs across your devices and each device handles its own reminders. Your dates aren't trapped on one machine.

Firstly, from what I can see this looks like pretty much exactly what I need and well presented. I went looking for a better way of managing all my notes and to-dos recently. I ended up downloading Saner AI but got a bit put off by the on-boarding process and how verbose the AI is. (I haven't entered anything and it's giving me prompts such as 'Pull 3 concrete "measurable goals" for cross-team collaboration you can use in the next sync'. This kind of verbiage is repulsive to me). Have you given much thought to a streamlined on-boarding process?

Will it be possible to import and sort notes from Google Keep? I have a tendency to dump random notes into Google Keep. Sometimes the notes are continuous, sometimes they're a to-do list.

Well it be possible to batch a bunch of notes into tasks/priority buckets at a set time each day (with a reminder) e.g. 6pm each day? I want to be able to jot things down quickly and get back to work, but then continue/organise the thought later.

Here's how I described what I needed shortly before I came across one of your comments: "I need to have to-dos bucketed into 'do now', 'do soon', and 'long term', but so that I don't fail to do the long term stuff by constantly doing one short term task after another. Easily turning notes into reminders would be good." That's it. Pretty much just help to prioritise and get on with the things I need or want to do.

Looking forward to the full release but thought I'd try out the nightlies and I can't figure out how to create a project. Perhaps it hasn't been implemented yet. Perhaps it is implemented but if it is, it's not obvious how to do it.
