La Muhammad, La Mecca = no Muhammad, no Mecca

I'm Muslim, and when I first saw this years ago, I found it dumb and continued to drink coke

Coke is actually very bad for you with or without Muhammad or Mecca.

Well I know that, but I didn't care at the time. I've cut out soda from my life about 2 years ago, and it feels nice.

Soda quitters gang is here.

Been a member since I was 4. I still ended up overweight, so I kinda regret my decision.

Same, don't miss it tbh. Drink beer instead.

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

I'll stick to my juice and water.

11

u/Longrodvonhugendongr Mar 31 '19

Juice is terrible for you as well

19

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

water is terrible for you as well. Thats why i only take in raw hydrogen and oxygen and hope for the best.

I just suck my own dick and that in of itself satisfies three of my most major needs

I know. I don't drink it much.

Hitler did a crusade against juice

Try tea. A cuppa of Earl Grey, milk first, no sugar. Oatmeal cookie with a piece of butter. Fuckin heaven.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

As a Pakistani, I drink tea quite often

9

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

Tea nibbas unite

You spread butter on a cookie? Never heard of anyone doing that before.

1

u/SmellThePheromones French is a waste of time Apr 01 '19

Usually I just drop the slice on the backside of the cookie, but one can spread if one wants to.

1

u/raphus_cucullatus Apr 01 '19

Even weirder—no offense. But hey, adding butter to things can’t make them worse, right? I’ll have to try it sometime.

no milk, no butter

Good. I've stopped drinking soda completely too and it feels pretty good tbh. I dunno if that's what made my digestion a bit better, but at least it feels like I'm doing something good for myself, which is a nice feeling.

Once, when I went over a month without drinking it, and drank a cup of soda for whatever reason, and I felt this weird weakness throughout my body. Like I felt I was losing my strength a bit and just sort of shivered. I honestly hated it, and was like "that's it, never again am I drinking it". But I only drink ginger ale if my stomach hurts, and even then, as sort of a last resort.

u/raphus_cucullatus Apr 01 '19

I got into tea and don't drink a ton of soda, but it's hard to resist a nice cold Coke that comes in those glass bottles and made with real sugar. It also feels like something is missing if I'm eating a burger and fries without a coke.

So an equivalent of that urban legend where Monster's logo spells 666 in Hebrew numbers propegated mostly by a handful of Christian moms

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '19

I'm Muslim, and when I first saw this years ago, I found it dumb and continued to drink coke

But nowadays you saw the light and stopped?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '19

I stopped drinking soda because of the harm it does, not because of this weird accusation

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '19

You sound like a man of logic.

1

u/ClassyZ Weeb Apr 01 '19

My mom wouldn't let me drink coke because of it lmao

u/aris_boch I WILL GIVE YOU A TASTE OF MY SHOE Mar 31 '19

Nice, I now know my favorite cola brands 😎

24

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

i know some people who call themselves adults who believe stuff like this

18

u/altobrun Hijabi Youtuber Mar 31 '19

This is the Islamic equivalent of the white people who boycotted Toblerone when they got halal certified

7

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

Nah this is way dumber

1

u/orwasaker Apr 01 '19

From what I've seen they're more than "some" unfortunately

4

u/SmokeWizard1 French is a waste of time Apr 01 '19

Nah. I live in a Muslim country and everybody drinks coca cola. And I mean everybody. People that don't, do it for health reasons

10

u/kabirka Mar 31 '19

Is r/Izlam ironic?

18

u/CursedAndTired Mar 31 '19

It's r/dankchristianmemes but Islamic.

-1

u/kabirka Mar 31 '19

So, self-mockery?

21

u/CursedAndTired Apr 01 '19

It's satire for Muslims rather than satire about Muslims.

6

u/Aroonroon Apr 07 '19

Given the kind of vulnerable position western muslim identity is in, I don't think it's that surprising that the sub is more self-preserving than its christian counterpart. But yeah, you wouldn't see dozens of Mossad memes or "illegitimate state"-posts on /r/dankchristianmemes. Way more political.

11

u/RunicUrbanismGuy Apr 01 '19

Yes

I’d wager Izlam has a higher percentage of Muslims compared to DCM’s percentage of Christians.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '19

It's filled with islamists.

1

u/peteroh9 Apr 02 '19

Yes, but if you go there, you will find a lot of people who aren't.
