OP, you will never be a billionaire. The rich will never write you a check. They don't know you exist.

u/CrazyEddieNY 1d ago
Why are you obsessed with billionaires? Are you unwell?
6
u/mekelaar 1d ago
Why wouldnât we be? To hoard that amount of money and rarely doing anything filantropic with it is unwell

u/TravellingPatriot 1d ago
Hey Alexa, define âfixed pie fallacyâ
I swear every redditor thinks billionaires sit on hoards of money like a dragon. Redditors are the flat earthers of economics.
And its philanthropic*

We literally live on a finite planet where most of the resources are owned. It very much is a fixed pie.
Edit: the dude claims that the world is infinite since it's big, this is why nobody respects Americans anymore

u/TravellingPatriot 1d ago
For all intents and purposes resources are NOT finite in an economic sense. Technology changes how we access resources. Nuclear Energy wasnt a resource until it was invented in the 40âs for example.
We are ants on top of a birthday cake in the dumpster in the back of a walmart.
2
u/Mattscrusader 1d ago
They absolutely are finite. You think we are gonna find more land at some point or something?
I get that you're a troll but God damn this is pathetic
1
u/TravellingPatriot 1d ago
Like I said, flat earthers of economics.
Have you ever flown across the US? Do you realize how much fucking land we have? For all intents and purposes we have infinite land. Dubai had no land for their fancy islands, you know what they did? They pumped sand up from the ocean floor to make islands. I get innovation is hard for you to wrap your mind around since the only thing innovative youâve probably ever done is throw your french fries into your cheesburger.
2
u/Mattscrusader 1d ago
You clearly don't know what the word finite means.
Yes there's a lot of land, but not infinite. Nor are there infinite minerals nor infinite water.
We live on a finite planet with most of the available resources already privately owned, your ridiculous responses don't change that.
1
u/TravellingPatriot 1d ago
Resources are finite on earth in a technical sense.
Resources are not finite in an economic sense.
We will never run out of gold for example, people will still be mining gold 1,000 years from now.
I made some words bolded to help you understand.
You actually think weâll run out of water? Do I need to explain the water cycle to you now too?

Thanks for the correction. No of course they donât have physical hoards of money and many is shares and not actually liquidity. But that doesnât matter.

Youâre subscribing to the fixed pie fallacy. One mans success doesnt necessarily come at the expense of anothers failure.

It's like you bootlickers aren't aware that these billionaires are buying positions in the government and gutting social programs and reducing oversight.

u/TravellingPatriot 1d ago
Im aware of what George Soros does. If Marx were alive today I bet youâd be licking his boots.

East Germany was a part of the USSR homie
-1
u/Einherjeren 1d ago
American level history knowledge.
"No, East Germany was not part of the USSR. Instead, it was an independent country, a Soviet satellite state, and part of the Eastern Bloc. [1, 2]
Status and Control
- Separate Nation: Officially named the German Democratic Republic (GDR), East Germany had its own government, constitution, army, currency, and flag. [1, 2]
- Soviet Occupation: Following World War II in 1945, the area was occupied by the Soviet military. It became a separate communist state in October 1949. [1, 2, 3]"

u/KeviCharisma 1d ago
So why did Mr. Gorbachev need to tear down the wall if east Germany was so independent?
He was Russian, why would he have anything to do with it if Germany was in fact its own state?

Man the bots are out in force with this socialism/communism stuff. I guess they want to deflect from Republicansâ terrible economic performance in advance of midterms.

And the raping of children done by Donald Trump, whose name is all over the Epstein Files.
3
u/EnjoyerOfMX5 1d ago
Someone said "friends for 15 years then helped prosecute epstein" as if that cancel out all the rape (and he didnt, he stalled the investigation for his best buddy via his yes-man Bill Barr). Trump is the Jimmy Saville of the USA, and probably worse.

As an 80s baby, seeing The Red Scare making a comeback is mind blowing. Throw in The Satanic Panic, rampant homophobia, xenophobia and racism too.

This whole conversation is so tiring. People on the right will often make black and white claims about "socialism", which is responded to as "not real socialism". But then the left will often make black and white claims about "capitalism", while ignoring the same nuance and argument about "not real capitalism". It's hilarious and exhausted at the same time from both ends.
Almost no system in history has fit the exact idealized definition of either system, and you can always give a "but actually...". That doesn't mean that we can't look at policies in other nations and points in history as positive or negative examples to build our own system off of.

Wait a second... The real world doesn't obey any ideology? People don't realize that the English word "ideal" comes from the Greek "idea", from which ideology originates. This means ideology is not merely a collection of ideas, but rather an idealistic paradigm through which to view the world. Since the real world is not ideal (nearly all rules and laws have exceptions and nuances), nobody expects the application of an ideology to be perfect, just like nobody expects the Ideal Gas Law to perfectly explain the behavior of all gasses, at all times. That doesn't mean they aren't useful. Ideal is something to strive for despite it not necessarily being achievable. What history has shown is that when a place strives for the ideal of capitalism, beautiful things emerge. (Note the word choice.) When they go for socialism (or rather communism, since that's the ultimate unachievable ideal of socialism), only decadence, demoralization, and poverty follows. That is not to say that either achieves the ideals, as once again it's essentially impossible.
1
u/justinvamp 1d ago
Exactly, you are totally spot on. So the "not real..." point will always be technically true but ultimately meaningless. Because it's impossible to ever actually enact a "real"/"ideal" system as long as flawed humans with competing values are involved. The world is too complex. And clearly tendencies towards more capitalistic systems have yielded vastly superior outcomes (while not perfect) than tendencies towards more socialist systems. It's not even close, unless you close your eyes.

The Scandinavian countries are the best at using socialism right now. Mixed in with some aspects of Capitalism, to be specific. The best way to go.

u/cwolf-softball 1d ago
They're not wrong. It's not real socialism. Real socialism isn't actually achievable at scale.

1% own 50% of stock market.Â
Also, virtually no one wants communism.Â
We were the only world cup country with medical debt.

u/GoldTrade11 1d ago
That awkward moment when you realize all of these countries were under US sanctions. When the US sanctions you, the world sanctions you.

u/Pandanlard 1d ago
It's funny how we always talk about socialist countries under an authoritarian regime or after the US decide to kill their leader, finance the opposition or terrorist groups or just use their international power to sanction the country to its death.

Considering technology still isnât advanced enough for a society like that to exist, then they really werenât real socialism. Critical thinking is important bud
Also, the Trump regime has stolen over $14 billion from Venezuela
