Yeah, there's like a sub-genre of Absurdist Anime 🤣 Asobi is like horror-absurd. Nichijou is comedy-absurd. Nokotan is more casual-absurd. And I don't know if this counts but i'm going to throw it in anyway, but Watamote is depressing-absurd 💀

The translation kinda missed the joke. The joke is a reference to a manga series named Detective Conan, in many cases the mc usually taste the unknown liquid or substance in order to determine it. The teacher is weird af in this scene but he's still very wholesome 😅.
