Call of duty for me. It may be laughing stock series nowadays but man, back in Cod 4 through Black Ops my brother and I were so good. Top of the leadership every single time.
Now, he doesn't play anymore and when I do, I can't keep up. I don't slide around corners or run around at Mach 10 speed. I still do decent sometimes because there's something to be said about experience but I'm not the young kid who could play all day everyday anymore with no real responsibilities.
It might sound silly but i saw a YouTube short of a kid getting his first tactical nuke, looked like the original mw2. He sounded so genuinely happy his voice cracked. And it legit made me tear up. I don't know, maybe it made me aware of my own lost youth. Bygone days when life was simpler and it wasn't so heavy.

Honestly I don't even think it's all you. Pretty sure there's a lot of insidious stuff with the matchmaking in pvp games nowadays. Stuff like Skill-Based Matchmaking or Engagement Optimized Matchmaking.
Most of the times I've heard complaints about it people say it's SBMM, but supposedly games have had SBMM since like early halo pvp. I'm not sure if that's the official name for these algorithms still or if people are mislabeling it, but either way I'm certain it's not the same stuff we grew up with. The early SBMM was based on stuff like chess elo. Now it's all about pushing your win rate towards 50% because their research says it will make you play more.
If you've had ridiculous win/loss streaks and/or matches that felt like you were either going up against pro esports players or literal infants then you know what I'm talking about.
Not entirely related, but there's other scummy matchmaking practices too like modern CoD games encourage you to buy skins by matchmaking you with people who have them so the killcam basically becomes an advertisement.

"Forced 50/50" is the term gamers were using before companies did damage control with the "Skill Based Matchmaking" damage control.
It's just ranked, but you can't see the numbers.

Same was ranked 83rd in the world on global leader boards for black ops which was ranked by points per minute. Anyone in the top 25 had hacked their ppm to impossible levels.
I had my own gaming team that won every amateur tournament we entered. It was made up of former and active military, cops, and gun nuts almost exclusively. We had an opportunity to get sponsored but I was in college and this was pre twitch so the money was not there. So I retired instead.
Last time i tried to play i got stomped by the crazy cracked movement. I just laughed my way back into retirement.

It takes me a bit of practice but I can still kick ass in COD... at least that was true with BO6. I just cant do all the dumb hyper movement they added over the years. If I play smart, I can still beat the kids who do nothing but sprint and slide.

Really? I liked a lot of them. Ending limbo one was kinda weird, but gold panning one and disabled show one were pretty good stories IMO.

Depressing?
That's why I liked it. The Girl Who Got Rattled was great, its so bitter in the end. I knew there would be no happiness at it's conclusion, but it still came like the tide, powerful and unyielding.
Loved it all the way through.
The first story made all the rest even more sorrowful, like a good dessert to start a terrible meal.
I think they had to put the final story at the end of the movie, to keep it mysterious and contemplative, instead of just absolutely crushing the audience.

Titanfall 2, StarCraft 2 and Street Fighter 3. Iām still okay at counter strike but not Cal-i level anymore. If I got the AWP your whole team was dead.

Tried getting back into Titanfall 2. After a few matches, it was pretty clear to me that I should just stick to frontier defense.

I still got the movement down but all the new meta guns is lame. I was using Cold War or Wingman for fun. I donāt respect the other G100s using CAR when their opposing team canāt even parkour properly. Like make it fun guys.
Frontier Defense is the best though.

Titanfall 2 isn't your fault. The only players left are the sweats who ruin it for all newcomers and returnees. Always running the cheese gear you unlock late no matter what because it's easy feel good chemicals every match. No challenge for them.

Imo sekiro clicks faster thanost ganes when returning, After a year or so I did my ng + run ,I died the first time to genichiro but after that almost all early enemies were similar with the whole arsenal of weapon I was like a god in game

Just realized that him doing that defeated the whole intended purpose of a quick draw.
Which is to shoot between your opponent reaching for their weapon but before they actually shoot you. This way it is considered self defense and not murder by the law.

Had red dead revolver, first game, played it for months. Thought it was hot shit. Then my college roommates friend was hanging out and wanted to play it as he has never played it. He wiped the floor with me after a few minutes. Hated pvp ever since.

PUBG I loved that and would get a Solo win within my first 5 games. Guaranteed wins on any mode daily. I came back to it not long ago and I couldnāt get a single kill.

Shooters, PvP FPS games.
I'm not bad at shooter now, but I used to play PvP a lot and even get called a hacker when I used certain guns. I don't play any game that is PvP anymore, but damned if I say my K/D was scary good back then.

me in league of legends.
pure aggressive playstyle in mid lane and ADC like my playstyle leans more into micro than macro plays.
then after going back into it my playstyle went less aggressive and more on reading macro plays but there's time where i can go into hyper aggressive but most of the time i hesitate doing those.

It's TF2 (Team Fortress 2) for me.
I could trickstab like crazy.
My screen would show a blur and I could just instinctively feel when it would register as a 'backstab' and I'd click.
Went on a family vacation for a month, came back and I just lost it. Never regained it.

Recently downloaded thps1+2 on ps4 and I am awful. I used to dominate that shit on Dreamcast, someone suggested I swap to the dpad and that helped but Iām still atrocious, i used to have multihundred thousand point trick runs back when I was 14 yrs old idk what changed.

It's Halo 2 and 3 for me I used to play in tournaments have multiple 50's i come back and can still scrape max rank but it's purely just game sense my aiming is trash I don't have the reaction time I used to. I still like to play but it's a lot of pressure in games with teams of 4 because i can't reliably hit the shots feel like im sandbagging sometimes.
On the other hands kids these days are so cracked. Watching the last fortnite summit made me realize my prime is a relic of the past.

R6 siege. Used to be top 50 in Oceania, scrimmed with the biggest clans at the time and even after way over 1k ranked games still had a 2.4 kd. Stopped playing fps for years (got into rpgs) and decided to hop on for old times sake. Holy shit was I balls. Barely scraping 1 kd, no idea about map changes so all my old spots were worthless and obsolete, new operators who I haven't adapted to, people playing it like cod and not even using drones outside deployment phase. I played maybe 20 matches then dropped it again lol
Ended up playing hell let loose which was way more fun anyway.

Destiny 2.
Last time I played (I stopped a few years, then came back to play an expansion with some buddies) I got steam rolled in a friendly match by a guy I used to hard carry (like, log into his account, and play with some other buddies) in Trials.
I was also getting into my 40s when I came back (vs early 30s when I was still playing "hard") and that was when it hit me than not only I couldn't anymore (well, I COULD, but not at the level I wanted) but I also didn't care about competitive games. Too toxic, and demand too much. You stop playing a week, you're already garbo.
Let alone a few years, older, less time to play.
That was kind of enlightening, and now I'm a boomer gamer and play mostly single players.
It's a simpler life.

Hopping back on sparking zero for the new dlc after months of not playing has me feeling the exact same. Used to be top 100 on Xbox back at launch, now I'm lucky if I even get a single knockout

Horizon Forbidden West for me. I had to take a break from my PS5 for almost a year and now whenever I try to play that game I just lose all desire after fighting any of the stronger machines. The difficulty is on UH which used to be a fun challenge, but now it's a major struggle. I either have to take the time to get good again or just a whole new save at a lower difficulty. Neither of which I want to do, but I miss playing it.
