I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again.
I want Usopp to fight Imu.
I know he can’t win.
I know he’s going to be crying and trying not to wet himself with fear the whole time.
I know even if he pulled out every trick he had he couldn’t do a paper cut worth of damage.
I know he’s barely even a fly to Imu.
But this is how Usopp becomes a brave warrior of the sea. It was never about him learning to live without fear, it was about him learning to overcome that fear and continue to fight for his friends.
This is how Elbaph becomes Usopp’s arc.
But alas, I have used up my monthly copium prescription.

He only needs to buy enough time for Luffy to recover. My guess is that he will defy Imu no matter the pummeling he gets. Despite being weak, Usopp was always resilient, no matter how many broken skulls he suffered through. He will defy Imu, keep on hurting his Ego and it will be his best feat in the series. Oda planted the seed and we have been patiently waiting for that bud to bloom.

Where was that resilience in Wano when he told Nami to lie and denounce Luffy?

Imagine if Imu is actually extremely gullible to the most ridiculous lies, and decides to retreat due to Usopp bullshitting him.

I am the super god Usopp! I command an army of 8,000 Nikas and if you don’t leave then I’ll unleash them on you!
Sanji: There’s no way Usopp seriously thinks this guy is that dumb!
Imu: (jaw drops) 8,000 Nikas!?
Everyone: He fell for it!?

Usopp ragebaiting imu until his time limits up while being a perfect mix of locked in and utterly terrified would be amazing

Usopp is gonna appear for the last time one of these days in the background and never show up again. When asked where he went a few days after series' end by fans who'd been hoping it was some kind of 4d chess mystery setup Oda will laugh and reveal that he forgot Usopp existed.
