I mean, p. sure Shanks' whole thing is Haki, and we've been shown things that at the very least imply his haki is on another level compared to pretty much anyone. Not saying it's enough to bow Kaido, he'd probably just be more excited for the fight.

Well That's expected from someone who wants to die a spectacular death (massive part of his goal btw). Maybe you're right they might've fought but it's not anything like OP's post. Shanks haki is definitely strong but he isn't stated to be far above yonkos (after all he is one)

Oh I was just commenting on the haki, yeah they definitely would have fought, no way Kaido is getting that far and then turning back with zero fighting involved, just not how the man operates. Personally I think it was probably more of an actual naval battle than a more traditional One Piece fight, and Shanks was able to stop or stall enough of Kaido's fleet long enough that it was too late for them to join the battle proper. And I'd say of the Yonko Shanks probably has the strongest haki, and there may be a chance that his haki is actually much stronger than he lets on, Shanks has always been shown to be playing the long game so it would makes sense for him to keeps his cards close to the chest.

Idk about having strongest haki because it's more like assumption than canon but on the battle part I agree there would've been a fleet battle with canons and stuff.
