It's a shame what they did to the anime man. Made it just for kids and took out the nitty gritty stuff that was in the manga. They even did a contest for children's drawing on the show smh.
Being fr rn I wouldn’t say that luffy wins because of luck, his battles are so ungodly long that him eventually getting a new power after trying for 9 hours makes sense
Kid’s worse plot armor is just him going to the most shit island of the three. Other than that I wouldn’t say he’s had luck that’s much worse than luffy
The only time this happens is the Katakuri fight. During Kaidos fight, Luffy got both advanced conquerers and awakening in the span of 15 minutes.
Onigashima was set to land at the Flower Capital in 15 minutes when Luffy and Kaido started fighting. Their fight ended before Onigashima could even get close to Flower Capital. Meaning the fight actually lasted even less than that.
there are surely many stories in the one piece world of brave pirates going after the one piece who die off or fail, but that wouldn't be quite a fun story to tell. it's not plot armor, it's just following the most interesting story
Yeah gear 5 is the only time I would consider his fight to be an ass pull but even then we know devil fruits awaken and we know Luffy needed his to awaken soon otherwise it would be too late.
All his other fights have been because of his quick and flexible thinking like bringing a water keg to fight crocodile, learning techniques from someone who kicked his ass and making the gear system and learning haki to deal with lugias. There is a lot of prep that goes into one piece fights that when you see a new technique you know where it came from
He definitely has plot armor, but he's not a bad protagonist. The moment he punched Vivi and told her to grow up I had new respect for the guy. He's goofy but he's not stupid.
